  • Last night we attended the Pharma Times Communications Awards and are thrilled to share that we won the Digital Communications Team Award! And if anyone thinks they saw Annie Carswell almost flip the table with excitement when it was announced... no, you didn’t... A massive congratulations to all the finalists and winners. See you next year! #ptca

  • Remember, remember the 5th of November... as Camino lights up the sky with some exciting news! 🎇 Yesterday, we welcomed two new joiners: Ciara Egan Gartshore, our new Operations Manager, and Shirley Lam, our new Senior Account Executive. We celebrated their first day with sparklers, followed by a (somewhat unplanned) Bonfire Night-themed escape room in Hyde Park. We’re so excited for you both to sparkle with Camino!

Yesterday, James Turnbull attended OpenAI's DevDay in London - a hands-on day of applying the latest AI tools and practices. My key takeaways were: 1. OpenAI's focus is clearly on reasoning models as the future. The current "o1-preview" is an odd model that has its own "chain of thought", but it's hard to determine which tasks it would be better at than the default gpt-4o. Altman hinted about how future versions (like "o4"... not to be confused with 4o of course) would get better at reasoning and combined with "agents" that do multi-step actions on your behalf were the future of AI. 2. There were plenty of OpenAI team members around, who were keen to discuss how people are using the tools, and offer advice and direction. I received some great guidance from a lead developer on how to better fine-tune the models for one of our current challenges. 3. OpenAI partners shared their experiences too - Echo Zhao, Lead AI Engineer from Klarna, gave a very practical presentation on optimising prompts, and not over-stuffing GPT with extra context before you know it's required. There were plenty of other great presentations on rapid-prototyping apps, using the Realtime API to make phonecalls and order pies, and other fun use cases. 4. Finally, during the Q&A, Sam was asked the question I submitted about if OpenAI will be better at localising the models for non-US audiences. This is an issue I recently discussed with a German medical director how GPT's American-centric tone affects its usefulness globally. Sam's response? He promised to "give us the 's's I'm sure", which missed the point! Overall though, a great day with lots learnt, many thanks to the OpenAI team!

Not your average first week! We're so excited to share that Rebecca Case has joined the team as a Senior Account Director. After our team day in Reading, Becky jumped on a plane to Vienna with some of the team to attend a pre-UEGW meeting. The only challenge they had onsite was differentiating between the two Beckys, so we're now officially open to nickname suggestions...
