About us

With roots stretching back to 1783, Camira is a textile manufacturer with centuries of heritage and a forward-thinking approach. Designing and manufacturing beautifully woven, environmentally sensitive fabrics for the commercial, residential and transportation sectors, we place our vision for a sustainable future at the heart of all we do. From the creation of our first recycled polyester fabric in 1997, through to the 2021 launch of Quest - a textile woven using plastic marine waste - we are continuously exploring new ways in which to deliver fabrics that stand up to the most demanding of environments, without ever compromising on achieving our ambition of a natural textile landscape. 🎮New level for brands unlocked?🔓 ❌ Well, strictly no, but more on that below. 🔁 Not for the first time (see comments for reminder), PlayStation are doing a takeover on part of the TFL network. 🚇 A carriage on the Victoria Line has had a PlayStation themed moquette installed and all advertising space will be dedicated to PlayStation. 🎅🏻 Not exactly shock timing given that Christmas is on the horizon. It’s 30 years since the original console was released and boy, was that the mother of all Christmases in our house! 🔵 The moquette is remarkably subtle, but it’s no accident that it’s on the Victoria Line. You gotta stay on brand with your colour choice, right? 🟡 PlayStation are not the first, but they are the first in a long time. In the 90’s, the Yellow Pages did it on the Circle Line - you can see it in the comments. 💭 Why don’t more brands do this? #brands #advertising #transport

Today is World Sustainable Transport Day. 🚌 Sustainable transport builds strong, inclusive and connected communities, yet it is also implicated as a significant source of green-house gas emissions. Resolving these trade-offs is essential to achieving sustainable transport and, through that, sustainable development. As a business we've invested in a state-of-the-art printing process for transport textiles which is the environmentally friendly option for adding colour to fabric. This process involves reduced water, energy and chemical consumption compared to traditional dyeing processes. In addition, due to our custom-made designs and small-batch production, the process benefits from reduced waste generation and storage space requirements are significant. Benefits to Camira Print include: ✔️Reduced waste ✔️Reduced energy consumption  ✔️Fewer transport miles for reduced emissions ✔️Minimal water consumption ✔️No excess stock generated Find out more about our transport fabrics on our website: https://lnkd.in/erfQTdBk

Hospitality magazine, FEAST Magazine has featured Camira's thoughts on how to maximise the 'Wickedcore' interior design trend which draws inspiration from the Broadway-musical-turned-blockbuster, Wicked which was released earlier this month. 🧙♂️🔮🌟 Pairing contrasting colours such as emerald greens with popping pinks, or fiery reds with ocean teals is the perfect way to add a sense of stage-inspired charm to an interior. 👇 https://lnkd.in/e63_2xjZ

Happy Friday everyone! Thanks to Liam Wycherley for sending me a selection of the natural coloured fabrics from Camira I couldn’t speak about all the products in depth as I like to keep the videos short. And I read the note after mentioning sustainability, 100% natural, crib5, chemical free, biodegradable and all achieved through the power of plants! Thanks for the hand written note, it made the box even more special. I loved all the touches from the design of the packaging to the touch of the fabric ;) Camira is certainly a fabric makers who care. And for the anecdote, as I was teaching Mia Bagot about rub test, she mentioned train fabrics.. So I thought she would love to hear more how you designed the fabric for the Elizabeth line. ;) Please comment, like and share. #interiordesign #homedesign #interiordecoration #interiorarchitecture #fabric #sustainability #sustainable #natural #chemicalfree #hospitalityindustry

Almost as exciting as Christmas morning... 🎅🎄🎁 ... is the fact that there's just five sleeps to go until HIX Event. Swing by stand 52 where we'd love to show you Snug - our brand new irresistibly cosy, chunky, wool bouclé fabric which is both ruggedly textured yet tenderly soft. 🐑 See you there.
