We recently spent the day celebrating John Dower, a visionary whose work helped lead to the creation of National Parks in 1949 🌱. Joined by fellow campaigners, the '49ers,' we unveiled a blue plaque in his honour and reflected on the lasting impact of his efforts. The day was filled with inspiring conversations with John Dower’s family and talks from a local farmer who shared how sustainable farming supports both nature and productivity. As we look ahead, we’re dedicated to ensuring National Parks are accessible and enjoyed by everyone—especially those underrepresented in the countryside. Let’s protect these treasured places for future generations.

🌳 Did you catch us on Countryfile at the weekend? The price of ‘affordable’ homes should be linked to average local wages, not the whims of an overheated housing market. That’s what our campaigns lead Jackie Copley told @bbccountryfile . ‘We need homes for people in normal jobs: farm workers, teachers, nurses. The proposed "Standard Method" bases targets on existing housing stock, which overlooks local needs and could lead to oversized developments in rural areas—often with homes too expensive for most people.
