🚀 Poseidon CCS: Rig Mobilisation Begins for UK’s First Offshore CO₂ Injection 🚀 Carbon Catalyst Limited is excited to share an important update on the Poseidon CCS project, which will deliver the UK’s first offshore CO₂ injection test. 🌟 After years of planning and collaboration, we have now entered the rig mobilisation phase—a significant milestone on the path to the injection test. Together with our key project contractors, Dixstone Shipyard Holland B.V. , Petrodec, and SLB, we have successfully completed the conversion of the ERDA—a traditional oil and gas jack-up platform—for CO₂ injection operations. This project is the first of its kind in UK waters and aims to provide critical empirical data for the development of the UK’s CCS industry while setting new standards for the sector. With safety approvals in place, the ERDA platform is on schedule for mobilisation in the coming days. 🚨 Exciting Progress Alert! 🚨 As we gear up for our offshore Poseidon CO₂ injection test, the Carbon Catalyst Limited team, our Poseidon partners and the North Sea Transition Authority had the privilege of visiting Petrodec’s ERDA platform which is being prepared for offshore CO₂ injection activities at Dixstone’s Nieudorp yard in the Netherlands. With mobilisation just weeks away, preparations are in full swing. The installation of the cryogenic CO₂ tanks, pumps and heating equipment is well advanced, bringing us closer to the start of this critical operational activity. 🌍 Exciting Progress for the UK’s Net Zero Journey! 🌍 Carbon Catalyst Limited is please to see the UK Government's commitment to the nation’s first carbon capture projects, backed by £22bn of funding over 25 years to kickstart the UK’s CCUS sector. This is a major milestone that positions the UK at the forefront of global decarbonisation efforts. This announcement highlights the UK Government's recognition that CCUS is a critical component to achieving net zero. The progression and de-risking of these two Track-1 projects is a crucial step for the industry. Looking ahead, it is essential that the Government, in conjunction with the industry, establish the conditions under which additional projects can be deployed at pace. It was a pleasure to participate in the IEAGHG 7th International Workshop on Offshore Geologic CO2 Storage this year. We had the opportunity to present the latest developments in UK offshore CO2 storage, highlighting our ongoing Poseidon CO2 injection test. Capturing and storing industrial CO2 emissions in offshore depleted gas fields presents a significant opportunity in our journey to global net-zero. Our injection test aims to demonstrate that this can be done safely, reliably and efficiently, particularly in relation to Leman, the UK’s largest legacy gas field. 🚀 UK Poseidon CO2 injection well test rig mobilisation! 🚀 We're delighted to announce the successful mobilisation by the Poseidon partners of the Petrodec HAEVA offshore workover rig, now on location at the Leman Hotel wellhead platform in the UK Southern North Sea. This marks the beginning of our preparatory well operations, setting the stage for the commencement of the UK’s first CO2 well injection test later this year. This ~30 day operation entails the workover of the Leman 27H gas production well and completion of the well into a CO2 injector. It’s been great chairing the panel session at the CCS Strategy Europe conference on our UK Poseidon CCS project. #CCS Manager, Louis Hannecart, was pleased to present the Poseidon CCS project in the Carbon Capture Summit 2024 event in Amsterdam. A comprehensive panel of emitters, financiers, advisors for EU regulation as well as several technology developers were in attendance as we provided an update of our ongoing work on the CS009 Appraisal License.  Louis highlighted the opportunity of the Leman - Poseidon CCS project in a view of developing from our UK licenses future carbon storage offering for UK domestic emitters as well as for continental Europe emitters.   See attached the key takeaways discussed in the presentation. Preparation is underway for the Leman CO2 injection test! Last week, the Perenco #CCS team went on a site visit to the ERDA jackup rig with several contractors, the objective was to review deck arrangements and interfaces for the various equipment packages to be fitted.    Petrodec (member of Dixstone group) is setting up a full support package for the test, this is inclusive of a 1000 m2 deck space rig support for injection package, support for operational procedures and permits, yard base support in flushing as well as management of offshore logistics during the test.   We look forward to sharing further progress as the operation develops.   Carbon Catalyst Limited | Wintershall Dea | Dixstone | Petrodec
