Carbon Copy is supporting the #WarmThisWinter campaign. Today's price cap announcement will send even more people towards fuel poverty and the prospect of a freezing cold winter. In our latest blog we share research from the campaign, which shows a majority of the public actively support a fully-funded nationwide insulation and ventilation programme. We also share inspiring examples from Cosy Homes in Lancashire (Blackpool Council), Karbon Homes and The Wheatley Group, who are all working to reduce bills and emissions for residents. On the Carbon Copy Podcast back in May, we told the story of a school street in Wymondham, South Norfolk. We met the dedicated dad, passionate headteacher, proactive council officer and supportive Sustrans team that helped to set the street up and to ensure it was sustainable. 🚴 It's great to see Active Travel England providing this guidance so that more schools and areas can implement a scheme like this. Despite some challenges, the positive impacts of the school street we featured - on air quality, road safety and on pupil health and wellbeing - have been really significant. 🎧 Check out Taking To The Street here, or wherever you get your podcasts: https://lnkd.in/eFyzuP4V Norfolk County Council James Lucas #SchoolStreets #WalkToSchool #AirPollution

Well done to the Active Travel England team for publishing guidance to help councils deliver "school streets" that work for schools and local communities. School street schemes restrict motor traffic outside schools during pick up and drop off times, reducing congestion, boosting safety and enabling more pupils to walk, wheel or cycle Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom and fab to have Department for Education and Department of Health and Social Care support for this and particular well done to Jennifer Wiles :) https://lnkd.in/ek4KSFA2

Exciting News for Sustainable Urban Living! Imagine walking into a neighbourhood where the homes are beautiful and built to conserve energy, foster community, and minimise their environmental impact. This vision is now coming to life in a major way, thanks to a new £200 million partnership between the Urban Splash Residential Fund (USRF) and sustainable developer Citu. USRF, advised by SURE Capital Partners, has signed a five-year agreement giving it priority access to 600 of Citu’s trailblazing homes across Yorkshire. As a first step, USRF will acquire 52 homes in Leeds' Climate Innovation District and Sheffield's Kelham Central. These homes are built to Citu’s high eco-standards, focusing on energy efficiency and local manufacturing to reduce emissions. Built to Passivhaus standards, Citu's properties are roughly 75% more energy-efficient than standard homes—setting a new benchmark in sustainable living. 🌊 Restoring Our Rivers, Strengthening Our Communities 🌊 We're spotlighting Trent Rivers Trust, a charity dedicated to bringing the rivers of the Trent catchment back to life! Partnering with local communities, landowners, and the broader Rivers Trust movement, Trent Rivers Trust is tackling climate resilience, biodiversity loss, and community engagement through nature-based solutions. Why Rivers Matter: Healthy rivers are essential allies in the fight against climate change and biodiversity loss. By restoring natural river processes, creating pollution-trapping buffer zones, and managing flood risks, the Trust's efforts deliver direct benefits for people and wildlife. Projects such as "rewiggling" rivers, reducing pollution, and rethinking drainage systems help bring our landscapes closer to their natural state. A Connected Community Initiative: Trent Rivers Trust isn’t just working on environmental restoration; they’re fostering deep connections between people and nature. From a source-to-sea footpath along the River Trent to citizen science programs, they’re encouraging everyone to take action, big or small, for our waterways. Impact Goals by 2030: Open up 100km for fish passage Restore 50km of rivers Deploy 60ha of nature-based solutions Engage 800+ landowners Inspire more public participation Learn more: https://lnkd.in/ec8cQTpU #RiverRestoration #ClimateResilience #CommunityConservation
