CARE International UK

Non-profit Organizations

We work alongside women, girls and their communities to save lives, overcome poverty and achieve social justice.

About us

CARE International is one of the world’s largest aid agencies, fighting poverty and injustice in over 80 countries around the world, and helping 65 million people each year to find routes out of poverty. CARE also delivers emergency aid to survivors of war and natural disasters, and helps people rebuild their lives in the aftermath. We work with private sector companies to co-create opportunities for poor and marginalised people to have better access to goods, services and livelihoods – and on fairer terms. With more than 60 years’ practical and hands-on experience, our programmes tackle the deep-seated root causes of poverty, not just the consequences.

  • We have just launched our urgent winter appeal for your support. Around the world this winter, women who have fled violence and #conflict are facing freezing temperatures with no warm clothes or proper protection. Conflict and extreme weather, in places like #Ukraine, #Gaza and #Syria, have forced many to uproot their lives over and over again to search for safety. Often, it's belongings like blankets and warm clothes which are left behind. This Christmas, will you help wrap women and their families in CARE to help them through the winter? Your donation could provide essential items like warm clothes and blankets for families. Please click the link to donate today: https://lnkd.in/eVhKhQcT #Donate #Winter #WinterAppeal #WrappedInCARE

  • The price of a sack of flour rose to over £190 this month in Gaza. Read it and read it again.   Gaza has become “unfit for human survival”* with prices of essential goods soaring tens or even hundreds of times the original price.   This is in addition to: • Ongoing heavy airstrikes which have killed over 44,000 and injured over 106,000 Palestinians • Critical fuel shortages affecting transportation for humanitarian aid workers and civilians • Severely limited and blocked aid delivery with only 65 trucks entering per day (well below the 500 entering each day before 7 October 2023) • Airstrike attacks on aid workers with the total death toll now standing at 343   We cannot accept this reality for Palestinians in Gaza.   We call for an immediate #CeasefireNOW and for the UK to #StopArmingIsrael. *quote by Joyce Msuya, acting UN Under-Secretary General for Humanitarian Affairs

  • We join the Syrian people in their unwavering hope and cautious optimism for a better future.   However, the humanitarian needs inside Syria remain enormous. The escalation over the past two weeks has triggered new displacements with an estimated one million people fleeing the violence, bringing the number of displaced people higher than eight million.   CARE stands by the people of Syria and is ready to support them to rebuild their country. As Syria enters this transitional period, it is essential to support local civil society and women-led organisations, who are best placed to lead efforts to rebuild their country in line with the aspirations of their people.   Read our full statement: https://lnkd.in/eNvMQfR8 #Syria
