Fire Safety Success Story: A recent incident at one of our properties underscores the importance of early warning systems. A toaster was accidentally activated by items stored on top of it, posing a potential fire hazard. Fortunately, the AICO 3000 series detector quickly alerted the tenant to the danger. The tenant was able to remove the toaster from the property before any damage occurred. We are committed to maintaining the highest standards of fire safety across all our properties. Our detectors are installed in compliance with BS5839-6, the standard for fire detection and fire alarm systems in buildings. The new regulations aim to make procurement more proactive, prioritising local suppliers wherever possible and ensuring a transparent process. Key opportunities include: - Focus on a wider, holistic value, not just price. The move to Most Advantageous Tender will ensure that procurement decisions aren’t based solely on cost. This approach opens the door for suppliers to showcase the wider social and environmental impact of their efforts, and creates greater opportunities to deliver social, environmental and cultural benefits for communities across Wales. - Flexible procedures. A new competitive flexible procedure will enable Welsh contracting authorities to identify and adopt commercial best practices from across sectors, which will help to improve outcomes, drive innovation and maximise value for money - Stronger stakeholder collaboration Opportunities for early supplier involvement and greater input from end-users will help to shape procurement processes - Encouraging innovation From procuring innovative solutions to adopting cutting-edge procurement practices, this Act is an opportunity to improve efficiency and enhance transparency in Welsh public sector procurement. This week we are sharing the spotlight on our fantastic apprentices for #NationalApprenticeshipWeek Today we are introducing you to Amelia who is based in our Housing Services department. Amelia has been with Caredig for nearly 6 months and is one of our youngest apprentices. She has take the role in her stride and is eager to contribute her thoughts and ideas to the team. Amelia shared, "I am currently doing a housing apprenticeship here at Caredig as part of the housing services coordinator team. My main jobs throughout the week are responding to universal credit claims, administrating tenants housing benefits and booking repairs. I have been here 4 months, and I love it so far! I have made so many friends in this short amount of time, and I couldn't be more grateful for the opportunity I have received. I learn something new every day from new knowledge to new vocabulary and so much more." #SkillsForLife #NAW2025

It's #NationalApprenticeshipWeek and we want to give a shoutout to our fantastic apprentices. Today we are introducing you to Arjun (know to his friends and colleagues as AJ) who is based in our Business Improvement and ICT department. AJ has been with Caredig for 18 months and has made a very big impact. Bringing a continued flow of enthusiasm to his role everyday and taking on each task with a clear thought process he has integrated to the team seamlessly. AJ shared: "Working in Caredig has allowed me to meet and connect with new people. Every day is a new adventure, from resolving and repairing IT infrastructure to learning about systems. There isn't a day where I don't learn. The courses help with the job, and the university makes it interesting to learn. I usually enjoy learning IT and technology, and with the course, it allows my knowledge of tech to grow." #SkillsForLife #NAW2025

We are excited to share the progress on the retrofit project at Traherne Court. This is part of Caredig's 24-25 Optimised Retrofit Programme working in collaboration with LivGreen - Retrofit Specialists. Key measures being implemented include: - Cavity Wall Insulation (CWI) - External Wall Insulation (EWI) - Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) - Solar PV - Battery Storage - and Ventilation Upgrades These upgrades will improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and enhance comfort for residents.
