About us

In 1929 Walter Carefoot started his own business having finished his apprenticeship with a local Preston builder. From those humble beginnings the Group now has a turnover in the region of £30 million per year due to continued strong leadership and a loyal workforce. Since its establishment Walter Carefoot & Sons have built a reputation in the industry for delivering high quality work whilst providing value for its Clients. We operate in the educational, health, commercial, leisure, ecclesiastical and residential markets in both the public and private sector and have, over the years, developed strong relationships with Clients bringing repeat business due to our ability to understand a project’s needs, and by having the openness for sharing technical and commercial knowledge within the project team. We were delighted to be able to attend the official opening of the Leigh Infirmary Community Diagnostics Centre last week, to see the Mayor of Greater Manchester and former Leigh MP Andy Burnham formally open this important new facility.   Providing new MRI, CT and X-Ray scanning facilities, along with a new theatre and associated recovery ward, the Community Diagnostic Centre is already providing tangible benefits to the local residents of Leigh, through reducing waiting times and providing access to services closer to home.   The Leigh Community Diagnostics Centre is a key element of Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust’s strategy for improving patient care and access to services across their three hospitals sites, and we are delighted to have been able to bring our experience of delivering similar facilities across the NHS to this transformational project.  We look forward to continuing our long standing relationship with the Trust as they continue to develop the services they provide across the region for their local communities.
