  •  🌟 Exciting News in the Steel Industry! 🌟 Today marks a significant milestone in the UAE’s commitment to steel safety and quality with the formal approval of the first downstream processor under the Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS) and the Emirates Quality Mark (EQM). We are thrilled to announce that CARES, the world’s leading steel certification authority, has granted approval for a range of specialist reinforcing steels produced by Al Gurg Building Services (AGBS). This achievement reflects the high-level market requirements recently established by the Ministry of Industry & Advanced Technology | وزارة الصناعة والتكنولوجيا المتقدمة (MoIAT) . In collaboration with MoIAT and other stakeholders, CARES has utilized its innovative digital ecosystem for third-party audits, ensuring the utmost quality and compliance in the steel sector. A special ceremony to honor AGBS as the first downstream processor to achieve this prestigious approval took place on Friday, with key representatives from both AGBS and CARES in attendance. We were proud to have Mr. Abdulrahman Al Shaibani, COO of the Steel Cluster at Al Gurg Family, alongside John Shafeek, General Manager, and Magdi Abdelwahed, Plant Manager, representing AGBS. This was another important moment in the ongoing journey of innovative assurance processes we continue to see in the UAE. The approved products include: - ISO 6935-2 Grade B500A WR Coil and Bar (6mm) - ISO 6935-2 Grade B500B WR Coil and Bar (8mm to 12mm) - ISO 6935-3 Welded Fabric (8mm to 12mm) AGBS is part of the esteemed Easa Saleh Al Gurg Group (ESAG), which encompasses 30 companies serving diverse client needs across the GCC. This achievement underscores our collective commitment to enhancing the steel industry’s standards and practices. Congratulations to AGBS and all involved in this remarkable accomplishment! #SteelSafety #QualityAssurance #CARES #ECAS #EQM #Sustainability #Innovation

Steel award marks “truly transformative” safety change in construction     A highly symbolic construction industry milestone was reached in Abu Dhabi with a presentation of the first fully digital steel safety award to one of the Middle East’s most important manufacturing groups.   The award, presented to EMSTEEL Group Chief Executive Officer Mr Saeed Al Remeithi by Lee Brankley, CEO of the world’s leading steel assurance body CARES, follows more than five years “diligent and painstaking digital development work” which has now been formally adopted on the UAE’s statute book.   EMSTEEL are the first recipients of the Emirates Conformity Assessment Scheme (ECAS) certificate for reinforcing steel product assurance. This scheme, mandated by the UAE’s Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology (MoIAT), brings a “truly transformative step-change in product provenance transparency in our industry,” according to Mr Brankley.   As a leading internationally renowned construction Group – acknowledged as the UAE’s largest steel and building materials manufacturer – Mr Brankley said EMSTEEL (formerly Emirates Steel) have been dynamic and supportive early adopters of CARES digital ecosystem, developed as part of a planned shift away from vulnerable, outdated, paper-based certification.    Each batch of reinforcing products entering construction supply chains from EMSTEEL’s manufacturing facilities in the region are fully assured, with a simple smartphone QR-code scan giving instant visibility of the steel’s ‘back story’, meaning material, quality and sustainability information is freely available to project sponsors.     CARES is the recognised sector leader in certification schemes, providing assurance to clients engaged in the manufacture and fabrication of safety-critical reinforcing steels. With a 40-year track record of building confidence in products entering the supply chain, a long-term strategic move to wholly digital solutions based around the CARES Cloud App was agreed by the CARES Board in 2019 – but within months the pandemic served to accelerate rollout of the scheme to international clients.   The UAE led the way, with EMSTEEL at the forefront of the drive to digital, said Mr Brankley. “We worked very closely with regulators at MoIAT and of course clients such as EMSTEEL and I’m pleased to confirm that the outcome has been a truly transformative step-change in product provenance transparency.”   He explained: “We worked closely with multiple stakeholders like EMSTEEL in this process; auditors and technical teams were engaged in diligent and painstaking digital development work – and we are grateful for the encouragement we received from MoIAT during this process, leading to today’s event and this first certificate.”    The ceremony took place at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC) during the prestigious ADIPEC energy and petroleum conference attended by representatives from more than 2200 companies worldwide.
