2.4 billion people across the globe – that’s 1 in 3 of us – require some form of assistive technology (AT). That’s things like wheelchairs, reading glasses, hearing aids, screen readers, and prostheses. AT enables people with disabilities to lead independent, fulfilling lives and participate within their communities on an equal basis with others. Yet an estimated 85-95% of people with disabilities in low- and middle-income countries are unable to access the AT they need. Without it, people with disabilities can be all but eliminated from opportunities for education, employment, and human connection, locking people with disabilities into cycles of poverty and isolation. Access to AT is more than just a convenience – it’s a human right. We can and must do better to #UnlockTheEveryday and break down barriers for people with disabilities. As we celebrate International Day of People with Disabilities, let’s commit to ensuring AT is accessible, affordable, and available for all, so no-one is left behind. #AssistiveTechnology #DisabilityRights #ChampioningDisabilityEquity #IDPD2024

  • Women with disabilities are 3-4x more likely to face discrimination, stigma and violence. For many this comes from within their own homes and communities. They face compounded barriers in education, healthcare, and access to support systems. As we mark International Day of People with Disabilities, let’s work together to break down these barriers, ensuring that women with disabilities can access education, healthcare, and vital supports on an equal basis with others. Everyone deserves a chance to thrive, regardless of their gender or disability. #UnlockTheEveryday #ChampioningDisabilityRights #IDPD2024

  • We all have a part to play in building an inclusive world. Take action and show your support. Together we can #UnlockTheEveryday for people with disabilities. Social stigma and cultural stereotypes create significant barriers for people with disabilities, leading to exclusion and discrimination. We all have a role to play in building a truly equitable world. To create a truly inclusive society, we must address the barriers to inclusion people with disabilities face throughout all touchpoints in society including non-discrimination, inclusive design, support services and access to assistive technology. We must challenge these misconceptions and ensure that every person can access their rights and opportunities. Let’s work together to #UnlockTheEveryday for everyone. #ChampioningDisabilityEquity #IDPD2024

  • Big thanks to our amazing partner, QAV Global for their support in the fight against Neglected Tropical Diseases #NTDs – a group of preventable and treatable diseases impacting over one billion people worldwide. Together, we’re dedicated to bringing prevention and treatment to some of the worlds poorest communities. This blog post also honours Anas, a remarkable advocate in our NTD journey, who sadly passed away in October. His legacy lives on in our ongoing NTD work.
