📢 Government unveil planning changes that can boost investment 🤔 But why should businesses in the East of England take note? It's fair to say businesses across the East have been feeling rightly anxious since October's budget. So, we welcome a more progressive and investment-focused announcement of long-overdue planning change. This week's NPPF document goes some way in introducing more ambition and common sense to a system that's been stalling economic growth for too long. BUT, a new Framework won't change things overnight. We need government to actually create the conditions for the building of more homes in the right places through better land use and connection of infrastructure, without rowing back on net zero targets - combined with more resource for planning teams. Chambers East brings together four Chambers of Commerce in the East of England: Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk & Suffolk
About us
Chambers East is a partnership of four Chambers of Commerce in the East of England, covering Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk. We have nearly 500 years of combined experience in supporting our local business communities and are accredited by the British Chambers of Commerce to directly represent over 3,500 organisations who employ nearly 300,000 people. Via our digital channels our wider business reach across our region is over 75,000. So, we are ideally placed to lobby on behalf of businesses on a local, regional and national level. The make-up of each Chamber of Commerce reflects our local business communities from micro businesses to multi-national corporations, across every sector imaginable. All four Chambers of Commerce have expert, dedicated teams whose mission is to support Chamber Members and the wider business communities with whatever they need. Whilst Chambers of Commerce are politically neutral, we have a long history of building strong working relationships with local government and our MPs, helping them understand and advocate for the needs and challenges being faced by the business community. We regularly lobby on behalf of our members at Westminster and closer to home, and are ably supported by the British Chambers and the wider Chamber network. With our vast experience and knowledge of our community, we are uniquely placed to connect, support and give voice to every business in the East of England.

Chambers East reaction to Chancellor’s Budget Statement of 30 October "This is a high-risk Budget which we hope will pay off in time, even if there is short-term pain. If we get good, supportive trade and industrial strategies alongside effective devolution and public investment in infrastructure then business confidence may be boosted in time."
