On Wednesday the new Labour Government set out their legislative proposals for the first session of Parliament in the King’s Speech. Despite outlining 40 legislative proposals there was no mention of business rates reform. This omission is surprising given the Labour Party's longstanding commitment to overhauling the business rates system, a pledge that was also highlighted in its manifesto.
