Nearly one in four people in Scotland take time off work due to poor mental health caused by stress. Our friends at Mental Health UK have launched their second annual Burnout Report. The report shows that people are still at risk of #burnout, with younger generations being most likely to take time off work due to stress-related mental health. Approximately 630,000 in the UK reported being economically inactive due to long-term sickness, with 'mental health condition' being the main cause for the last two years. Our friends at Mental Health UK have launched the 'Breaking Barriers' report: supporting mental health to boost economic growth. Within the report, it mentions our Employability Support Project, which we run in Dumfries & Galloway. The service improves knowledge, skills and confidence to support people in breaking down barriers so they can access paid employment, volunteering or further education. Last year, the service was massively successful in helping people to build their confidence and employability skills, so they can do what they want to do in terms of professional development. Our Breaking Barriers report reveals the tough reality for people with mental health difficulties trying to secure work. We’re calling on the government to take action on the barriers preventing people with mental ill-health from working. Share this post to help drive change.
