We could have spoken to Scott Poynton for hours when we got together for the last issue. His life story, from a resolute determination to be a forester and protect nature when he was young, through years of mediating between some of the world's largest companies and NGOs to deliver real and impactful change, to his latest work with Pond Foundation to guide organisations to strong climate action, is both fascinating and inspiring. We loved our discussion with SolarAid's John Keane about the incredible and transformative power of light. For most of us, switching a light on at the end of the day is second nature - probably something we don't even notice doing. But for the communities that SolarAid works with in sub-Saharan Africa access to electricity and the provision of solar lights for homes, schools and hospitals can change lives. John told us about the organisation's work in the region, including empowering entrepreneurship and sustainable businesses, connecting rural off-grid communities, and pushing for universal access to electricity for everyone.
