We're thrilled to introduce our Patron, Lia Williams, reading the story of one of Clean Break's Members for our Big Give campaign. Coercive control is often overlooked when thinking about abuse, but it is so prevalent. Since being at Clean Break, this Member has reclaimed her love of writing, after having her passion squashed by an abusive partner: "Now I can write what I like, when I like, as long as I like or as little as I like." Help more women find their voices and thrive. Give as little as £1 and see your donation doubled today, at no extra cost to you: bit.ly/CBBG24
Clean Break Theatre Company
Non-profit Organization Management
A women’s theatre company changing lives and changing minds – on stage, in prison and in the community.
About us
Clean Break is a women’s theatre company, founded in 1979 by two women prisoners who believed in the power of theatre to transform lives. Our vision is of a society where women can realise their full potential, free from criminalisation. We pursue this vision by producing ground-breaking theatre which puts women’s voices at its heart and creates lasting change by challenging injustice in and beyond the criminal justice system. Through theatre workshops and projects in prisons and the community which build confidence, resilience and wellbeing, we transform the lives of women who have experienced the criminal justice system or have been identified as at risk of entering it.
