  • Amazing to see Jim LESCOP bring Climate Fresk to 15 policymakers at the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office at the end of last year! It's so important that our government decision makers are fully up to speed on the latest climate science, in order to develop well informed and meaningful policy. Great work Jim 👏 👏 👏

Why did they even show up? 🤔 Because they were #humble! 🤗 Inspired to have worked with this group that was by far the most #knowledgeable group I have delivered a Climate Fresk to this year! They could have thought "let's skip this #training, this is what I work on daily on top of being what I studied' for some. 👨🎓 But no, these climate #policy managers and #advisors and #country specialists from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office did show up and  based on their feedback all #learnt a great deal! And the best part is that they learnt from each other and maybe a little bit from the facilitator too!   🤞 To me that's what makes them remarkable: being #humble and keeping an #openmind. 🙌 This should apply to a lot of #people as we all need to consider that we don't know what we don't know. 👂 And that was just on the climate #science front, I believe they all lso #reconsidered quite a few of their #views#conceptions on how to do things, how to #approach climate action and put policies in place. 👩⚖️ Also it creates bridges  between people that do not necessarily #collaborate but will in the future. 🤝 Thank you for trusting me Sanjay Wadvani and Kate Poland 💪 Let's augment the #outreach now and get the Climate Fresk far and wide in the office and its numerous posts around the #globe 🌎 The potential of #influence the office has is a strength we need to leverage for the good cause.  💚 Looking forward to more #conversations to deliver more impact in 2025! To all, thank you and have a great Christmas season.  Jon Goddard Melissa Hanson William Eckersley Ali A. Isabelle Hillson kathryn tyler Emma Dutton Charlotte Brooks @eleanor cook @Lisa Evely Dominic Schroeder Massive thanks to Jacob Halpin with whom it all started!! So Glad we met at that networking a year ago!!! Enjoy Rome! We even had the #farmer come support our session!!! Thanks guys ;) PS: I had to caned that same post yesterday due to badges not hidden.

A few weeks ago, we ran a Climate Education Kick Off for the 1st year students of the University of Sussex Business School School of the University of Sussex. A 3-hour interactive card game, Climate Fresk UK Fresk summarises the findings of the IPCC report in a format that make the science and the complexities understandable for people regardless of their level of understanding of climate science. Devised by Frenchman Cedric Ringenbach, the card game plays an important role is invigorating the mass response required to avoid higher than 1.5 degrees of global warming above pre-industrial levels. With the support of the Engagement Facilitation Fund of the Business School Higher Education Fund I have run Climate Fresks and Carbon Reduction Planning (using Small99 Carbon Reduction toolkit) for SMEs in the community for a year now, working with sustainability experts and beginners alike. The results have been encouraging with participants making real commitments to reduce their carbon footprints – both business and personal. Also encouraging is the engagement and support of the those who have attended the community sessions as several of these fabulous people came to help the large scale roll out at the Business School – thank you to Aziz Ali Boghani, Anne Barrett, Melanie, Luli, Julie and Lucy for your professionalism and energy! In this pilot programme, we ran Climate Fresk workshops in week 4 of the 1st year module Introduction to Business and Management. The aim is to help support the UNSDGs and Sulitest explored as content in the module and to embed sustainability into the first year curriculum. It resonates with the University of Sussex Business School’s commitment to social responsibility and sustainability. Thank you, Alison Bailey, for supporting this project. On the facilitation team were 3rd-year students that have qualified as Freskers and did a fantastic job of sharing their knowledge with their peers – well done and thank you to Nandika Sachan and Ronneesha. Also on the team were newly qualified Fresking colleagues – Alison Bailey, Claire Tingsager, Zehua, Najmal, and Jessica. And thank you to the Student Experience Team, in particular Nicky Gamble and Claire Tymoshyshyn, who did a magnificent job of supporting the logistics and liaising with the students for this big roll out. More than 300 students attended the workshops over the space of a week. The collaborative nature of the card game allowed our students to have honest discussions on the causes and consequences of climate change. For these students of business, it offered an important opportunity to assess the contribution they want to make to tackle the challenges of our time. I look forward to doing it again next year! I think!

Feel empowered to combat climate change. #sustainability #ethicalbusiness #esg

Want to get a clearer understanding of climate change? That's what Climate Fresk is all about. A visual tool to help with understanding the causes and effects of climate change and what we can do about it. It's all based on the science as collated by the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change). During the 3 hour, small group workshop, you'll see some of the connections you may not have realised before. But most importantly, you'll discuss with others about what changes we can make to improve the situation and come away feeling empowered, with your own plan of action. If you're in the vicinity of #Deptford, #SE8, #SELondon, there's a Climate Fresk workshop in the evening on 14 November. Cost between £0 to £10 donation. Click the link for details and to book. https://bit.ly/3YzbCi6 #climatefresk #sustainability #lewisham #climatechange #workshop Climate Fresk UK

🌼 What a remarkable and successful day! Over 300 first-year students from Architecture, Architecture and Environmental Design, Architecture and Technology, Interior Architecture, and Urban Planning and Design participated in the Climate Fresk UK. 🎓 This event was part of Architecture + Cities Climate Action Week, organised by the University of Westminster, which included the training of 12 internal facilitators who brilliantly delivered the workshops. 🌱 I had the privilege, alongside Pascale Aboutboul Crangle, of coordinating this event with an outstanding team of 18 Climate Fresk facilitators, co-facilitators, and coaches in the beautiful Architecture studios. 🪴 The briefing led to rich discussions about sustainable design, innovative materials for future use, and key construction priorities. A big thank you to Ro Spankie, Anastasia Lydaki, and Holly Jones—this event wouldn’t have been possible without your invaluable support! Thank you Dan Ripnar for the pictures.
