CNG Fuels is committed to building and operating Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) distribution infrastructure throughout the UK; primarliy through the rollout of public access CNG refuelling stations. Our goal is to provide fleet operators with a low-cost and emissions conscious fuel source through a reliable gas-infrastructure network. CNG Fuels provides CNG directly to transport customers at our infrastructure as well as to customers looking for off-grid solutions. Such off grid applications include the provision of CNG via trailer to companies looking for a more local refuelling solution and off-grid businesses running on diesel, who are looking to save on fuel costs and emissions. CNG Fuels owns and operates the UK's largest public access CNG refuelling facility, which is located in Crewe, Cheshire. We will be rolling out new CNG stations across the UK in 2015. ***DONCASTER BIO-CNG STATION OPEN*** CNG Fuels are pleased to announce that we have now completed the development and commissioning of our latest (Bio)CNG Refuelling Station in Doncaster. The station is now fully operational and open to all current and future customers. The address for the new site is: CNG Fuels Doncaster, J3 Business Park, Balby Carr Bank, Doncaster, DN4 8DE The station is located just off Junction 3 on the M18. The station at Doncaster currently comprises of 8 Refuelling Dispensers, allowing more than 700 trucks to refuel per day - with room for future expansion. This is our 15th large-scale Public Access (Bio)CNG Refuelling station to become operational - the other locations include; Warrington, Avonmouth, Bellshill (Scotland), Leyland, Erdington (Birmingham), Northampton, Crewe, Newark, Knowsley (Liverpool), Castleford, Newton-Aycliffe, Corby, Bangor and Aylesford – please contact me for full address list. With the opening of our latest refuelling station in Doncaster, one of UK's key logistics hubs, we now have 15 public access refuelling stations for renewable biomethane (Bio-CNG) under the CNG Fuels brand. The network can refuel more than 10,000 heavy goods vehicles daily and help fleet operators reduce 850,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year. We’re proud to run an all arctic fleet with a mix of 4x2 and 6x2 tractor units, with 5 electric trucks alongside 35 CNG fuelled trucks. Today we’ve taken delivery of four additional CNG Iveco S Ways, using 100% biomethane, that has completed our diesel free journey. A helpful and insightful report on the UK's journey to Net Zero Transport. We agree with the challenges facing decarbonisation of HGVs and the timeline to electrification. Massive generational upgrades are required to the UK's electricity grid infrastructure to get enough electrons to hard to the hard to reach places that are home UK logistics operations. #BioCNG will be key solution for tackling heavy transport emissions for a long time to come
Zemo Partnership today publishes a Delivery Roadmap for Net Zero Transport in the UK which sets out the interventions required across key policy areas to bring forward investment in zero emission technologies and low carbon fuels and promote low carbon travel choices. The Roadmap is the culmination of well over a year of consultation with the widest range of stakeholders in road transport’s decarbonisation transition, and takes an economy-wide, whole-systems approach to making net zero transport happen. It encompasses policies on upgrading the electricity grid, enhancing the UK’s skills base and opening up green finance. The commitment to increase the UK’s target for greenhouse gas emissions reductions to 81% by 2035 (vs 1990 levels) is ambitious but currently unmatched by the domestic policies necessary to achieve the target. This enhanced target demands even greater urgency in delivering emissions reductions from road transport and new policies to address the barriers to rapid transport decarbonisation are required. The Roadmap points to the areas where these policy interventions are most urgently needed. We would like to extend our thanks to all Zemo members who have contributed to the Roadmap.
