✨Our AI webinar has moved to 14th January 2025✨ Artificial Intelligence. It’s EVERYWHERE nowadays. From search engines to smartphones, you can’t turn a corner without hearing about AI's influence- including planning and development. But what does it really mean for the future? Over the past couple of years, AI has been gradually introduced, aiming to automate laborious manual processes, increase consistency; and save both time and money. With a continual squeeze on local government resources, there is a clear logic to this. However, it is currently being offset by hesitancy, caution and sometimes fear. It’s fascinating to observe how AI has started to take hold in planning and local government, and where it is (and isn’t) working. In this webinar, we will look at how AI is being developed across a number of areas as well as its current successes and limitations. Join us on 14/01/25, when we will explore how: AI currently being used and how will it be used in the future The legalities surrounding the use of AI in planning How local authorities could benefit from AI? How these models are (and should) be trained Sign up here: https://hubs.ly/Q02Z-8kP0

As many of you may know, today marks White Ribbon Day: an international campaign observed on 25 November each year, calling for the elimination of violence against women and girls. As is stated on their very website, violence against women and girls is rooted in harmful masculine norms. Starting with men, we must address the attitudes and behaviours that contribute to a fear of violence for women in their day-to-day lives. We've been very passionate about this at Commonplace, working with our customers and partners to create safety schemes and raise up the voices of women and girls about the areas they feel most unsafe. Real societal change is the only way we will see improvement in this area, with everyone working together towards true gender equality. Projects like Lambeth Safe Streets https://lnkd.in/eEch5jxC and Greenwich Women's Safety https://lnkd.in/eSTEuQ6i were created to gather the thoughts and concerns of women and girls while also keeping the information public so men and boys could better understand why these fears are warranted. We also had a fantastic discussion with Women in Planning, talking about why no one should ever feel unsafe walking in their own neighbourhood. You can watch the full session below. https://lnkd.in/e-M3mBeu You can find out more about White Ribbon Day here: https://lnkd.in/egc5_pVu

✨We're back with another customer project feature! Today, we're taking a look at the Bunhill, Barbican and Golden Lane Area Healthy Neighbourhoods Plan. Last year, the City of London Corporation and Islington Council asked the public what they thought about the streets in the area. Now, they have developed a draft Healthy Neighbourhood Plan for the area. This is based on the community's want for more space to walk, wheel, cycle, and for more trees and greenery. This project seeks views on the new plan so it can be refined before it's finalised! Check out their navigational map below that highlights all the different areas of the plan. https://hubs.ly/Q02XT4d-0

We are delighted to be supporting multiple projects with The Crown Estate currently! Cambridge Business Park (one of three projects with us) is gearing up to become a cutting-edge hub in Northeast Cambridge, merging office and lab spaces for start-ups and established firms with fresh residential, leisure, and cultural amenities. This £1.5 billion redevelopment is set to fuel the UK’s tech, science, and innovation ambitions, positioning Cambridge as a national innovation ecosystem. The site aims to connect researchers, innovators, and locals with its "no borders" ethos - opening the area for STEM education, a new high street, and accessible transit links. With public consultations starting soon, Cambridge Business Park is on track to break ground in 2026, with a full launch in 2030, embodying The Crown Estate's drive for economic and social impact through sustainable innovation. Commonplace will be used to share essential and interactive project information and also to gather feedback on proposals in Cambridge. #CuttingEdgePlaces #CuttingEdgeTools #CambridgeInnovation #FutureOfTech #ScienceHubUK #SustainableDevelopment #CrownEstate #InnovationEcosystem #STEMAccess #UKTechCluster #NortheastCambridge #FutureOfWork

In a room with 50 Council Leaders and CEOs, what stood out for me was their passion and determination to improve the lives of the people they represent, often against all the odds.
