  • As 2024 comes to a close, we’re reflecting on a remarkable year at Compleat Foodservice. Here are just a few achievements that shaped our journey... We’re extremely proud that some of our products have received recognition from leading industry bodies this year. Accolades include our Wrights Unbaked Vegan Sausage Roll winning Silver in the Best New Meat-Free category at the British Frozen Food Federation Awards, whereas on the sweet side, our Sour Cherry & Amaretto Cake was awarded highly commended at British Baker’s Britain’s Best Cake Awards. ⭐ We expanded our capabilities by acquiring new brands, including SK Chilled Foods Ltd Foods and Zorba Foods, leaders in private-label chilled party foods and dips. Alongside this, the acquisition of Harvey & Brockless has strengthened our offering across the Mediterranean deli and continental meat categories. 🍴 Our talented and skilled team have been creating some exceptional, innovative products. A standout was a premium Steak & Ale Pie with Stonegate Group, now enjoyed in pubs across the UK. We also pushed the dessert boundaries through partnering with YO! Sushi on adventurous treats like its Yuzu Lemon Doughnut and Cotton Candy Cheesecake, which have delighted diners nationwide. 🚐Lastly, we’ve travelled all over the country (and world!) for trade shows and events. From showcasing at Bidfood UK events across the UK, to our very own Helen Bowyer speaking at the British Society of Baking conference - and even visiting partners in sunny Seville!   • As we near the end of the year, we’re turning our attention to the top bakery trends forecast for 2025... 🥧Growing influence of global flavours – interest in world cuisine will continue to grow in the new year with a particular focus on Japanese foods, with its sweet, sour, and umami profiles taking centre stage. This trend is already starting to emerge in bakery with savoury options like Katsu curry slices, and sweet bakery items such as doughnuts with matcha, yuzu, and miso fillings (see our Yuzu Lemon Doughnut for YO! Sushi, pictured below!) 🥧Limited edition offerings tapping into trends – these products drive both social media engagement and sales as customers rush to try the latest limited edition bakery items. This trend has begun to emerge in recent years with experiences like Bridgerton themed afternoon teas and cake decorations inspired by the latest blockbusters.   • Last week, Chris Hutchinson and philip jones had the pleasure of attending The Country Range Group's "An Evening With…" event, hosted by the brilliant Rob Brydon. 💫 Chris and Phil headed down to London’s Frameless - an immersive art experience which provided a stunning backdrop for a night celebrating the successes of the past year for Country Range. The event brought together wholesalers, suppliers, and key players across foodservice. It was wonderful to see so many passionate professionals gathered to reflect on the hard work and innovation driving the industry forward.   • This week the foodservice team and Monty's Bakehouse headed down south to attend the British Frozen Food Federation’s Annual Lunch in London! This year’s annual lunch was even bigger and better, situated at The Park Plaza Westminster Bridge on the South Bank with iconic views of Westminster Bridge and Big Ben. The event included a drinks reception, lunch and a speech from the BFFF President, before celebrity speaker Jason Fox took the stage, to give motivational speeches and engaging insights on leadership, motivation and operating under-high pressure from his two decades in the British Special Forces. It was a truly insightful day and a fantastic opportunity to network and catch-up with colleagues and leaders across the frozen food industry.   • Did you know that 77% of consumers enjoy trying food from across the world? 🌏 Pan-Asian cuisine is becoming an increasingly popular choice. Many restaurant operators are now incorporating on-trend Korean and Japanese cuisine into their menus, serving dishes like Korean fried chicken with a portion of punchy Kimchi. Kimchi is being used in wider Asian dishes and fusion cuisine, as it adds an extra depth of flavour and authenticity. It’s also an easy addition to an established menu, as it can be served as a side or mixed through other dishes such as slaws and salads.   • Last week, our Commercial Director Helen Bowyer and National Account Manager Chris Hutchinson headed to the Caterforce Ltd Supplier Conference 2024.   Held at the iconic Wembley Stadium, Helen and Chris had the opportunity to connect with both new and familiar faces across the Caterforce members at the ‘Meet the Member’ event. The day continued with insightful talks on Caterforce’s future direction, as well as discussions on the latest trends in AI and green goals.   • 🍂 Keep your eyes on the pies this Autumn! 🥧 As the weather gets colder and the nights draw in, it’s the perfect time of year for restaurants and pubs to serve warming, comforting food. However, the run-up to the festive period is one of the busiest times of the year for hospitality outlets making it hard for them to sometimes do this. But did you know that busy operators can buy in premium products to save time whilst still offering their diners an elevated, high-quality meal?
