New publication! CCH: 30 Years of Hope, Inspiration and Belief. Tells the story of where CCH came from, how it has grown and what has made it so effective. Martyn Holmes, Chair of CCH said “It is a history of how individuals and an organisation has grown and changed in response to the political and economic situations that it operates within. It feels timely to reflect on this when we have a new Government that has pledged its support to growing the co-operative sector, and CCH has developed a clear set of asks in our 2024 Manifesto for Change that sets out what we need to enable us to make that change happen.” Download a copy here [hard copies available for purchase!] #coophousing https://lnkd.in/ggzSaxEm

Great progress at YorSpace, well done everyone!
YorSpace have been busy collating images and videos to document site progress over the first 4 months of construction with our first community led, co-operative house build @ Lowfield Green. Phase 1 is well and truly underway now and we're excited to only be a matter of months away from handing over the keys to the first 14 households. We've created a thread, which can be found here: https://lnkd.in/d8D9dPNg For those of you who avoid X, we've collected a series of posts here. The site team have been making considerable progress in tricky conditions over the past few weeks. We're looking forward to a strong few weeks before we all break for a well deserved rest over Christmas. A huge thank you to our construction partners PureHaus | Greenfield Building Services Ltd - David Bradley-Bowles, Jonathan Dixon, Alan Evans & team.. Aaaand to the onsite consultant delivery team, which includes; Jimm Reed, People Powered Homes Ltd; William Edson, BWA (Europe) Limited; Dan Postill, Bowman Riley, Architects, Building Consultants, Interiors; Robert Vint & Liz Watson Things are really starting to take shape and we're looking forward to welcoming Lowfield Green Housing Co-op residents onsite at the weekend for a tour. #spadesintheground #communityled #affordable #lowcarbon #passivhaus #cooperative #cohousing #CLTs #york Community Land Trust Network | Cooperatives UK | Confederation of Co-operative Housing | UK Cohousing Network

Open consultation - Reforms to the Energy Performance of Buildings regime. According to industry press, new plans are that domestic EPCs will use four headline metrics: fabric performance, heating systems, smart technology readiness and energy cost. Homes will therefore be assessed for their insulation, low-carbon heat sources, and potential to minimise their impact on the grid through green technology. More information about Scotland and Wales in the link. The consultation runs for 12 weeks and closes on 26 February. https://lnkd.in/dhUz4Aww

New publication – Opportunities and challenges for black and minority ethnic community-led housing. Back in May 2022 we announced the start of a research project to explore current practices and issues in England affecting Black and Minority Community Led Housing and asked for our member co-operatives to get involved. Opportunities and challenges for black and minority ethnic community-led housing is the final report from the research and finds that community-led housing has the potential to tackle racial inequalities within the housing system, but there are barriers to achieving this which need to be addressed. Did you miss our conference this year? Find out more about the day here! #coophousing
Report from the recent conference of the Confederation of Co-operative Housing, which discussed the potential of the #coops model to offer solutions in the face of the #housingcrisis, a growing problem for a world already facing #climatechange - as well as a political polarisation which is making #cooperatives look increasingly 'counter-cultural'. Delegates also looked internal issues for the sector, around tenant satisfaction, governance and regulation https://lnkd.in/efbjz3vW
