In partnership with the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and Countryside Partnerships, we’ve reimagined a former car park on York Road into a vibrant, mixed-use scheme, that reconnects Maidenhead's High Street with the York Stream. The 140-home scheme forms a new backdrop to the stream; a new public square, densely planted along the York Stream walkway, offers a place of pause that straddles both the urban and natural. The highly-articulated buildings, drawing inspiration from the town's Victorian heritage with rich red brickwork and champagne-toned metal accents, are arranged around shared gardens to foster interaction among residents and the wider community, presenting a model for future development on nearby vacant sites. - 📸Ray Phillips -- #maidenhead #architecture #housing #residential #community

Lanson Place Parliament Gardens Melbourne, housed in the historic Printing Works, marks our first Australian hospitality project. Inspired by the building's heritage and the city’s rich character, the hotel offers both short and long-stay options to meet the changing desires of travelers who crave connection, a sense of belonging and independence. "Today’s travelers like the idea of being able to make their own breakfast or a quick pasta before going out at night without expensive and unwieldy room service – just like they would at home." said Tina Norden in an interview with Architecture Magazine (UK). Drawing from the building’s print house history, the interiors design seamlessly connects the Victorian red-brick architecture with the sleek glass tower, blending the old and new for a unified, memorable experience. HIX x Design Anthology UK present: Travel Now Taking place on 28 November from 12:00pm to 15:00pm in our brand-new Gallery Hall, Travel Now is a trio of breakout talks curated by our partners Design Anthology UK and exploring the travel trends, movements and concepts set to shape hospitality for years to come. As travel habits shift, so too does our perception of quality, luxury and relaxation. An increasing desire for meaningful experiences and deeper connections that leave a lasting impression on the soul have seen both the travel and design industries seeking new means of connecting people with places. Running parallel to our main HIX Talks programme and moderated by D/A UK’s Co-publisher and Astrid Media Director Kerstin Zumstein, these discussions will focus on three separate areas of travel and their potential implications. Addressing the rise of niche interest journeys, the emergence of communal hospitality and the redefinition of relaxation, Travel Now features speakers including Tina Norden (Partner & Principal, Conran and Partners), Stijn Oyen (Managing Director, Design Hotels), and Melissa Messmer (Global Head of Design, Luxury Brands - IHG Hotels & Resorts) plus more. Stay tuned in the coming weeks as we reveal the full line-up and session details. Just a few doors down from our London studio, at 11-12 Great Sutton Street, we've just completed our latest retrofit project for Foster Projects - a transformed four-storey workspace and creative hub in the heart of Clerkenwell. Originally built as a 1960s warehouse, we ensured the new spaces appeal to contemporary tenants while respecting the building's industrial roots and architectural identity. By taking a pared-back approach, we stripped away the superfluous to reveal the building’s authentic character and blended in modern amenities. Our commitment to environmental and cultural sustainability shines through as we preserve and enhance the original fabric of the building, reducing waste and lowering its embodied carbon, all while retaining its memory. We can’t wait to see this space come to life! _ #RetainingTheMemory #Retrofit #Sustainability #Architecture #Clerkenwell

"Nowadays, travellers are looking for the in-between when it comes to luxury. They want the option to choose between cooking a quick meal in their guestroom's kitchen or going out to experience the neighbourhood" says Partner Tina Norden. Last week, we travelled across the channel to attend the first International Day of EquipHotel Paris International, where Tina shared her insights on the shifting trends in luxury hotels with with Andre Straja of GaS Studio, Julian George of The Future Plate and Sophie Harper of Hotel Designs. Thank you Oytun SARITAYLI and ING Media for the invite and the memorable event. - #HospitalityDesign #LuxuryHospitality #EquipHotel

What does diplomacy have to do with creativity? In her latest column for Mix Interiors, partner Tina Norden talks about the delicate relationship between designers and their clients, and how she often finds herself being a diplomat as much as a creative. "Without people – and persuasive – skills it is very hard to stand your ground as a designer and convince clients, technical consultants and anyone else involved in a project of our point of view – and create a holistic, resolved and considered end result."
