When you get a shout out from the inspirational Stevie Ward, who joined us for our Constructive Futures event in Huddersfield yesterday. Thank you so much for giving up your time and sharing your wisdom and stories with our students. #Inspirational #Resiliant #Reachyourgoals #Construction #collaboration
I know we can just throw around how we are privileged to do stuff, but I actually loved yesterday. I used to watch sports people in media interviews and just feel like I didn’t get a lot from them the most of the time as everything would be the same old predictable narrative and it didn’t match with how I felt about competing. It didn’t make sense. And I think young people are wiser than we think and ultimately resonate with truth. A room full of young people got brought together by Constructive Futures (Natalie Sarabia-Johnston) who cheer them on and show them what they can do in the construction world. Young people, like most of us, who have possibly learned that their limits are closer than what’s actually possible or that their talents don’t fit. I got to share my story and how my life is now and the nuances of all of the above for me. I’ll never understand or know the impact of my words (if any) and therefore I don’t take that responsibility lightly. So I love I’m the opportunity to be as helpful and truthful as possible! Thanks to Charlie Beech for inviting me along, I honestly love that you gave me that experience fella. It was lovely to hear Grace Field speak too flying to flag for women’s rugby league.
