Malayalam-language feature film Rekhachithiram has recently been released in cinemas, shot by award-winning Cinematographer Appu Prabhakar. With direction by Jofin T. Chacko, the film follows suspended policeman Vivek Gopinath who rejoins the force and is tasked with solving a 40-year old murder case with a faceless victim. Cooke spoke with Prabhakar about his experience working on the film and his choice to shoot with S7/i FF lenses, which he found ideal for rendering skin tones and providing creative control over flares. 'Vidaamuyarchi', an Indian Tamil-language action thriller directed by Magizh Thirumeni, was released in cinemas today, February 6. The film stars Ajith Kumar as a husband whose journey to rescue his wife, (Trisha Krishnan), takes him through a series of intense challenges in Azerbaijan. Cinematographer Om Prakash, known for his acclaimed work on 'Vaagai Sooda Vaa,' chose to shoot 'Vidaamuyarchi' using Cooke Anamorphic/i Full Frame lenses. He highlighted that these lenses were ideal for capturing the vast landscapes featured in the film and praised their ability to render images with a "natural softness." Sundance Film Festival is in full swing this week, and we are pleased to see the films up for awards and premiering at the festival that are shot on Cooke. 'Atropia' is in the running for the US Dramatic Competition, 'DJ Ahmet' for the World Dramatic Competition and 'East of Wall', is nominated in the Next Competition. Additionally, premiering at this year's festival is 'If I had Legs I'd Kick You', 'Kiss of the Spider Woman' and 'Jimpa'.
