On March 28, 2025, the XBRL taxonomies, validation rules, and rendering files will be updated to Version 2025-04-01, covering FERC Forms 1, 1-F, 2, 2-A, 3-Q (electric and natural gas), 6, 60, and 714. 📂 What’s New? The Taxonomy Package is now live on the eForms portal under Taxonomy History, and the system is accepting test submissions. 🛠️ Provide Your Feedback! Suggestions on the draft Version 2025-01-01 taxonomies can be submitted via Yeti by CoreFiling, the trusted tool for streamlined taxonomy review and comments. 🌍 ESMA Consults on Digitalising Sustainability and Financial Disclosures 📊 The European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) has launched a Consultation Paper seeking feedback on proposals to digitalise sustainability and financial disclosures. This initiative aims to enhance the accessibility and comparability of crucial information for investors, facilitating data-driven investment strategies. Key proposals include: - Implementing the European Single Electronic Format (ESEF) for sustainability reporting using iXBRL from XBRL International, Inc.. - Phased implementation of ESRS sustainability statements from EFRAG. - Redefining the marking up approach for IFRS consolidated financial statements from IFRS Foundation. Additionally, CoreFiling has developed a taxonomy prototype similar to the one proposed by ESMA. This allows clients and partners to experiment with the new standards using Seahorse, our widely-used tagging tool. 🚨 EU Finalises Public CbCR with Structured Data at its Core 🚨 The European Commission has taken a major step in enhancing global tax transparency by adopting the final implementing regulation for public country-by-country reporting (CbCR). Starting with financial years beginning on or after 1 January 2025, multinational enterprises with revenues exceeding €750 million will be required to disclose their income tax information using XHTML and Inline XBRL formats. Another great news for the XBRL International, Inc. community. The adoption of structured data formats, complete with finalised templates and taxonomies, underscores the EU’s commitment to standardisation and transparency. 🌍 Enhancing Sustainability Reporting with ESRS Set 1 XBRL Taxonomy and Seahorse 🌍 The EFRAG has developed the ESRS Set 1 XBRL Taxonomy, a powerful tool for the digital tagging of sustainability reports in a machine-readable format, aligning with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). This taxonomy ensures that the digital format accurately reflects the human-readable ESRS Set 1 standards. Key features include: * Concepts, labels, references, presentation and definition linkbases, and validation rules. * Detailed guidelines for Minimum Disclosure Requirements (MDR), using typed dimensions to relate Impacts, Risks, and Opportunities (IRO) to Policies, Targets, and Actions. * Extensible Enumerations (EE) for relating targets and metrics. * A reporting scope dimension, including Milestone and target years members, for comprehensive reporting. These new taxonomy characteristics present filing and tagging challenges for companies still getting familiar with ESEF reporting, especially in tagging notes and disclosures. Tools like Seahorse are here to help manage these challenges. While some AI capabilities for XBRL tagging can assist, they won't solve all issues, particularly with typed dimensions and extensible enumerations.
