It was great visiting the University of Greenwich Simulation Centre! Our policy team enjoyed hearing about the exciting developments at Greenwich including the expansion of programmes and the innovative work in simulation. We appreciated the opportunity to speak to students and hear their inspiring stories and positive feedback. During our visit, we also had a productive discussion with Chief Nursing Officer for England, Duncan Burton, about key priorities in healthcare education. The Council is always keen on visiting its members to see their facilities and hear about their concerns and priorities to help influence our policy work.

Council of Deans of Health reposted this
Great to see the updates to the Follett principles for joint working between HEIs and NHS providers published today. These make clear that the principles apply to clinical academics across health and care professions, including the nursing, midwifery and allied health professions represented by Council of Deans of Health . A real step forward in enabling joint work between NHS organisations and HEIs - thanks to everyone at NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research), NHS Employers, NHS England, UCEA and CARIN involved in bringing these updates about.

Join us in our upcoming joint webinar with the Association of Colleges that highlights the collaborative work universities and colleges are doing in the #healthcare sector. Recruitment and #retention of healthcare staff remains a challenge, and it has become crucial to widen access and participation to groups in the community that do not traditionally go on to higher education. The case studies highlight how universities and FE colleges are working together to increase the pool of talent in healthcare education, how these important partnerships have developed, and the positive impact they are having in their community. Speakers will include Ian Munro from the Association of Colleges and representatives from both HE and FE Institutions. Register via link below: https://bit.ly/4gicAoK
