This morning, our full business – across our Bolton, Manchester and Liverpool offices – came together for an end-of-year round-up. We wanted to take a look at what we’ve achieved this year - including becoming a part of Sumer and moving into our new Head Office - as well as what we’ve got to look forward to over the next 12 months (spoiler, there’s a lot!) 👏 We covered everything from training and progression opportunities, to growth, investment and recruitment! It’s always a treat to get the full company together, and even more so ahead of our Christmas Party celebration at the end of next week 🎄 We just want to give a huge thank you to each and every one of our colleagues for making Cowgills what it is. And to quote a recent testimonial we received from a client – carry on doing what you do! 💙

Being in London for an “Introduction to US International Corporate Taxation” course has been a great experience 🇺🇸 It’s been an intense three days of listening and learning - a throwback to my days studying for the ATT and CTA exams. Now to begin studying all of the US taxation textbooks I’ve ordered…! P.s. should be back home in time for the end of “Lancashire Day” too 🌹

🌟 Supporting growth in North West: New data from Sumer’s United Growth survey highlights the barriers facing female entrepreneurs Earlier this year, in collaboration with Sumer and The Entrepreneurs Network, over 600 entrepreneurs were surveyed to explore the state of UK business. Recently, Sumer took a deeper dive into the data and spotlighted an important issue - the confidence gap facing female business owners. While female entrepreneurship is on the rise, only 29% of women report feeling confident in running a business today - significantly lower than the 48% of men who feel the same. Key obstacles like access to finance, rising costs, and a lack of visibility continue to disproportionately impact women entrepreneurs, affecting their growth and long-term success. These findings highlight the need for ongoing conversation and action in addressing the barriers that prevent women from reaching their full potential in business. This week, we joined forces with Rowan to host an informative roundtable discussion focusing on how to prepare your business for exit or investment. We welcomed a group of business owners and shareholders who gained insight from M&A expert and special guest, Martin Boddy. An executive senior management career leading data analytics and digital marketing agencies, challenger banker brands and new direct insurance businesses, Martin is well known and highly regarded in the industry.
