Time to mark those calendars 📅 brand new training opportunities from Cumberland Council's NIHR Cumberland Health Determinants Research Collaboration start in January 2025! Our REEL Training Programme is designed to generate learning about evidence and how to create it. It is open to all staff, elected members and community organisations as continuous professional development and career advancement. The training will be voluntary, staff will be encouraged to participate and will be supported to attend training as part of their professional development. Our Research Officer Rebecca Clarke was able to attend and take part in Cumbria CVS (Council for Voluntary Service) AGM on Wednesday. The focus was on the question: “How might we work together and support one another, as people who care about Cumbria, to build on what’s good and create sustainable futures?” It was great to connect with partners/ stakeholders/ colleagues from across the county to explore what is already out there and how we can build further. 

Today Professor Kaz Stuart attended Cumberland Council's Infant and Child Mental Health Strategy Workshop. We heard about the prevalence of infant and child mental health issues from Katie Clarke, the importance of anti-racism in maternity and early years services from Janett Walker CEO of Anti-Racist Cumbria, and how Blackpool Better Start are currently providing these services. Kaz presented a session on theory of change which the group will be using to support their forward planning.

Our Research and Innovation Manager Professor Professor Kaz Stuart attended the University of Cumbria Stakeholder Evening yesterday to meet and connect with the four new Pro-Vice Chancellors. It was exciting to hear about the University's growth in the last year and plans for development. 2025 will be exciting with the launch of the new The Pears Cumbria School of Medicine.
