GFCE Europe Regional Meeting 2024: Advancing Cyber Capacity Building
Yesterday, GFCE convened the Europe Regional Meeting in Brussels, which was held back-to-back with the European Cyber Agora and spearheaded by insightful discussions on advancing cyber capacity building (CCB) efforts. With a diverse panel of esteemed speakers and a dynamic moderator, the event provided a platform to chart the course forward in fostering international cooperation and bolstering cyber resilience across regions.
Opening the event, David Van Duren, Director of the GFCE Secretariat, emphasized the pivotal role of collaboration in shaping a robust global cyber capacity-building ecosystem. He underscored the GFCE's unique approach of bringing together members, partners, and implementers to facilitate the coordination and implementation of CCB initiatives. This inclusive model, complemented by tools like the Cybil portal, global research agenda, and clearing house process, empowers stakeholders to harness competencies, expertise, and resources effectively.
GFCE's strategic regional expansion with teams and hubs established in Africa, the Pacific, Southeast Asia, the Americas, and the Caribbean aims to support local communities better, amplify GFCE's impact, and lay the groundwork for successful CCB implementation. By providing essential preconditions for action, GFCE strives to empower its global community to drive meaningful change.
GFCE extends our sincere gratitude to the speakers Dr. Cormac Callanan, Cyber Security Coordinator of the ESIWA; Moctar Yedaly, Africa Hub Director at GFCE; Silja-Madli Ossip, Community Lead at EU CyberNet; Miguel Exposito, Deputy Head of Unit for Science, Technology, Innovation and Digitalisation at the European Commission’s DG INTPA, and the esteemed moderator, Tereza Horejsova, Outreach Manager at GFCE, for sharing valuable insights and perspectives in the event.
