We are very excited to announce that the construction of Embassy Village MCR, a purpose-built community for homeless and vulnerable men in Manchester, has officially begun. The village will create a community of 40 new homes, based under the railway arches of Castlefield, near Bridgewater Canal. Daikin will be fitting the homes with heat pumps to provide sustainable heating and cooling solutions to residents, with Temperature Control conducting the installations, servicing, and maintenance of the systems. As well as providing a home, the Embassy Village will also offer skills training to residents, including Daikin bootcamp courses, with the aim of providing jobs in the HVAC industry. Ahead of the Autumn budget, we asked our partners in the Sustainable Home Network to share their aspirations. Gary Woodward, managing director of Heat Pumps London, a Daikin Sustainable Home Centre, shared his wish list of what he wants to be done by the government. Apart from Woodward’s wishes of providing financial support by investing in the infrastructure and the workforce, he also called for the provision of targeted incentives specifically designed to nudge homeowners to take the first step towards a heat pump system installation and incitement for authentic sources of the recent misinformation campaigns that seek to tarnish the reputation of heat pumps. “Daikin welcomes the report and we echo the Heat Pump Association (HPA)'s calls for the Government to do more to improve confidence in the market and to remove uncertainty about the roll out of heat pump technology. We would also urge the Government to work with the industry and educational institutions to promote the new Low Carbon Heating Technician apprenticeship. This will help to ensure that there are enough qualified people in the heat pump workforce to meet the Government’s net zero plans.” Daniel Jackson – Daikin UK, Training Manager
Today the HPA have published a new report projecting the future domestic heat pump workforce. The report covers the entire workforce required for 600,000 heat pump installations by 2028 and 1.6 million by 2035. Importantly, whilst heat pump installer training rates are growing, there's still a significant gap between the number of trained individuals and those actively installing🔧 For the details of the project and more key findings, read the report 👉 https://lnkd.in/eJPrYtUx Interested in the methodology?
