🎸 Check our Q&A with DICE promoter, Baba Yaga’s Hut 🎸 We're turning up the volume with DICE's Heavy Genre Promoters. As part of DICE's heavy genre takeover, we chatted with Baba Yaga’s Hut—a London-based promoter championing everything loud, experimental, and unapologetically raucous. In this Q&A, we got into the heart of what makes BYH tick, from advice for aspiring promoters to the pure joy of discovering new heavy bands. Here's what we covered: 1️⃣ Question 1: What advice would you give to someone wanting to start in music promotion? 💡 "Go to tons of gigs, make music, get involved in a scene. Get to really know and understand what music you love and think other people will go and watch and maybe other, bigger promoters don’t know is a draw and start putting them on. Treat bands well, show them that when they came and play for you, they are playing for someone who really gives a shit and thinks they are important and valuable." 2️⃣ Question 2: What is the most unforgettable live show you’ve ever promoted, and what made it stand out from the rest? 🤘 "I've been to so so many shows and it's hard to point out one. I have some top top favourite bands, Part Chimp & Melt-Banana jump out. When I see them play I forget that l'v put on a 1000 gigs and been to way more and just beam with happiness. Early Bo Ningen gigs I put on were really special, with Drum Eyes at Catch stands out." 3️⃣ Question 3: How do you discover up-and-coming heavy bands that deserve more recognition in the scene? 🤝 "I have many record labels and agencies that I follow who they are taking on. Relapse, Prosethic, Swamp Booking etc. The Quietus & The Wire Magazine are my regular resources for new music. And there is an excellent podcast called 9 Hertz." 4️⃣ Question 4: When it comes to booking shows, what gets you out of bed in the morning? 🎫 "It's been my life for heading towards 20 years now. That's what I do! I love being at shows and working with the lovely people in DIY music scenes across the world." 5️⃣ Question 5: If you had to pick one - what is it you love most about rock and metal? "The finest genre, Noise-Rock. Best of both worlds!" 👉 Follow DICE on Instagram @ https://lnkd.in/eWBYbD6c 🖤 Follow Baba Yaga’s Hut on DICE @ https://lnkd.in/e-6p_d5J #DICE #HeavyMusic #LiveEvents #PromoterSpotlight #MusicPromotion 📸 Photo Credit: Jose Ramon Camaano
