Showcasing Dundee as a creative place to live, visit, study or do business with.

About us

Dundee is a great place to live and work. And you don’t just have to take our word for it - the city was recently named in the “Top 12 Places to Live in the UK” by The Times newspaper. The world-renowned publication named the City of Discovery as “Scotland’s new capital of cool” and one of its “favourite places to immerse yourself in city living, whatever your age.” Among the reasons for that acclaim were a £1billion makeover of the Waterfront area, the city’s food and café culture, arts venues and affordable house prices. Dundee has been in the international media spotlight since the opening of the stunning new V&A Dundee museum in September 2018. The city has been named on National Geographic Traveller UK’s Cool List 2019, praised for its “dynamic, creative spirit” by Lonely Planet and described as the “coolest little city in Britain” by GQ. Schools in Dundee have been subject to a £100m modernisation programme – with seven new schools opening in 2018 - while others have already been fitted out to 21st century standards. Within the city, there are fantastic places to enjoy the outdoors, including the golden sands of Broughty Ferry beach and the green jewel in Dundee’s crown, Camperdown Park. And of course the scenic Highlands and some of the world’s best golf courses are right on our doorstep. Dundee’s cultural quarter is buzzing with cafes, bars and restaurants to fit all tastes and budgets. A huge range of shopping options are also on offer in Dundee, from High Street outlets to small boutique premises. With fantastic entertainment facilities, including Dundee Rep Theatre, Dundee Contemporary Arts (DCA), two cinema multiplexes, an ice rink, museums, art galleries and two professional football teams, there is no shortage of things to do for people of all ages. • Council Leader Mark Flynn: “A huge amount has been achieved at MSIP since the closure of the Michelin tyre factory less than five years ago. “This ground-breaking partnership has delivered an innovation hub, a skills academy, an accelerator programme, a home for start-ups and numerous local job opportunities. “Today’s announcement marks the next stage of the site’s evolution. This is a transition of ownership which aligns with the long-term strategic vision for MSIP. “Ultimately the goal was to create employment for local people, and this new chapter promises significant job creation for Dundee. “I look forward to seeing how the site further develops in the coming years.”

Today marks an exciting new chapter for Michelin Scotland Innovation Parc (MSIP) and the wider Dundee community. We’re pleased to share that Wilkie, a 160-year-old Scottish family-owned technical textile company, is partnering with Scottish Enterprise to lead MSIP into our next phase of innovation and growth. This transformative partnership brings with it the potential for up to 600 new jobs and an estimated £50 million investment in cutting-edge infrastructure, technology, and R&D. Wilkie’s relocation to MSIP from its historic Kirriemuir home is a strategic move that sets the stage for growth while reaffirming its commitment to sustainability, advanced manufacturing, and the communities it serves. Our commitment to sustainable innovation through the delivery of a successful innovation programme, supporting those located at MSIP to grow, and providing value to our partners, remains unchanged. Key Highlights: Wilkie becomes the majority shareholder of MSIP alongside Scottish Enterprise. Wilkies move to the Innovation Parc brings jobs and investment to MSIP. Wilkies is committed to working with Kirriemuir residents and employees to ensure a positive and thoughtful transition. This partnership demonstrates the power of collaboration, with support from the The Scottish Government, Dundee City Council, and Michelin. Together, we’re driving a shared vision of Dundee as a global hub for innovation, advanced manufacturing, and sustainability. We are proud to continue to deliver on the legacy that remains from Michelin with this new opportunity and are confident that we will continue to build a bright future for generations to come. Greig Coull, CEO, MSIP said: “I am delighted that Wilkie has brought its large-scale manufacturing ambition to the site, as the majority shareholder in this next chapter of MSIP. Their leadership and deep-rooted commitment to innovation, sustainability, and growth will continue our mission to drive forward decarbonisation and advanced manufacturing. With Wilkie as the majority shareholder, this partnership, supported by our invaluable collaborators, including Scottish Enterprise and the Scottish Government, marks a transformative step forward for Dundee and the region. The future looks bright, creating lasting economic, environmental, and social impact.
