We can't believe it was a whole week ago that we first opened our galleries doors to welcome audiences into Soft Impressions: Helen Cammock, Ingrid Pollard and Camara Taylor. Thanks to all those that came along to our Exhibition Preview and braved the weather! If you didn't make it, there are still plenty of opportunities to see the exhibition. We are deeply concerned to learn that Creative Scotland's Multi-Year Funding decision has been delayed until the end of January as a result of ongoing uncertainty about their funding from Scottish Government. The impact of this announcement, and the ongoing lack of clarity about the level of additional funding available to organisations through this fund, means that we face an extremely uncertain future. This delay will affect our audit report and our ability to be declared a going concern, jeopardising our ability to fundraise elsewhere; and will force us to escalate scenario planning for receiving less support than we have applied for, putting jobs and our ability to serve our audiences at risk.    We are working very hard to ensure as little disruption as possible for our audiences and team, but after years of standstill funding and warnings about its impact, we are running out of ways to maintain our activity at its current levels.

The Free Drawing School is a programme of experimental drawing, inspired by Hospitalfield’s house and archives, and is an ongoing narrative alongside the development of this special site. Earlier this month we welcomed pupils from Dundee secondary schools Art & Design departments to two study days across DCA and V&A Dundee. This annual event focuses on exploring art and design in person and meeting artists and makers to learn about their processes. Co-designed by our Learning team and V&A Dundee alongside teachers, it provides pupils with an introduction to our gallery spaces and makes a positive impact on their learning, enthusiasm and confidence. Here's some of the feedback we received: 💬 'Every place we visited was unique and interesting - I really enjoyed getting to explore and analyse all difference forms or art with people who were passionate about their field.' 💬 'Thank you! Really made me think more about artworks and ask myself questions I wouldn't have thought of. So helpful for the exam.' 💬 'Loved having so much time with the designers! They were fantastic and tailored it to the interests of the group'
