A huge thank you to everyone who supported our Christmas appeal this year! Your generosity has brought so much joy to children spending this Christmas in the hospital. 🎄 No one wants to be in hospital, especially at this time of year, but sadly this is the reality for so many families with seriously ill children. Working hand in hand with the amazing NHS teams, we’re making sure that being sick at Christmas doesn't have to mean being sad. An enormous thank you to everyone who came along to our inaugural Sparkle & Shine Christmas Carol Concert! 🎶🎄 By playing your part in this magical evening, you helped to raise over £6000 to support children and families who will spend this Christmas in hospital – thank you, thank you, thank you! Your support meant a little girl could enjoy games and win an amazing prize to take back to her room; a boy could get his face painted with a festive design; and parents saw their children experience the joys of the festive season, just as they would at home. Gingerb-ready, steady, bake! (Sorry.) Our wonderful friend Peter Sawkins, winner of the Great British Bake Off 2020, is back at the children's hospital, this time to show children how to make delightful gingerbread art. Being unwell at Christmas doesn't mean having to miss out on festive cheer. And there was certainly plenty of cheer as everybody assembled their houses - with the help of a few pro tips from the GBBO champion! An enormous thank you to Peter for coming back to visit young patients, sharing your talent and bringing so many smiles. ❤️

We’re enormously grateful to the Walk With Scott Foundation who have made an incredibly generous gift of £10,000 to help children struggling with their mental health. Poor mental health is one of the biggest challenges of this generation, and ECHC is incredibly proud to have supported so many young people, and their families, struggling with this through the Haven. It’s only thanks to the dedication and kindness of supporters like the Walk With Scott Foundation that we have been able to provide such valuable support and intervention. We know what a milestone gift this is for the Foundation, and we are absolutely thrilled. ❤️

Here scrums the Christmas cheer! 🏉🎄 We had the pleasure of welcoming the Edinburgh Rugby team to the hospital today, much to the excitement of children, families, and staff. The team posed for photos, signed autographs, handed out lots of gifts, and brought smiles to some of their biggest fans with more than a few renditions of Jingle Bells! 🎵 Thanks to all the amazing players who took time out of their busy training schedule to come and visit young patients, turning what might have been a long hospital day into one that was truly memorable. ❤️

The Haven moves to Haddington 🏡❤️ A very exciting day for our children's mental health service, The Haven, as the team cut the ribbon to mark the opening of their brand new space in Haddington. While the Fraser Centre in Tranent has been a fantastic first home, the availability of private space here was limited. We want to give the best possible support to all our young people and families, so our new location brings: 🏠 More spacious facilities and enhanced privacy 🕓 Extended opening hours: The Haven is now open Mon-Thurs: 3.30pm-7.30pm and Fri: 1pm-4.30pm 📍 Expanded reach: We’re now covering the Knox Academy postcode area as well as Ross High, reaching even more families in need With enormous thanks to The Fraser Centre, Myles and Ross from PureMalt Products Ltd. and University of Edinburgh Estates Department, without whom none of this would have been possible.
