With just two days of negotiations left, the World Wildlife Fund for Nature (WFF) suggested there had been a lack of progress by negotiators to trim treaty text and to include core measures that would make the eventual treaty capable of ending plastics pollution. The fifth session of the Intergovernmental Negotiating Committee (INC-5) to develop an international legally binding instrument on plastics pollution is currently taking place in Busan, South Korea. Chris Bloore, MP for Redditch, has been appointed chair of the All-Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) for packaging, which works to bring industry and legislators together to tackle common goals. The Packaging Federation is now seeking MPs from all parties to join the APPG. A second factory has been built alongside the existing plant, increasing the site’s footprint by 50 per cent, to 31,000 sq m. The completion of the factory ends a five-year transformation that has brought production of Hellmann’s to the site, which was already producing Marmite, Bovril and Colman’s. The blow moulding and filling of Hellmann’s 100 per cent recycled plastics squeezy bottles has been incorporated into the production process. While Tyrolon’s systems are already being used on KHS lines, the two companies plan to jointly further develop currently established equipment, such as conveying stars and neck clamp systems.
