…and it’s live 🙌 After many months in the planning, we are so excited to launch Causeway Charity’s brand new Exploitation Risk Checker 📲 Check it out here ⬇️

We are so grateful for everything Becky Claydon has done for and given to Ella’s over the years 🫶
We’re recruiting for a new Chair to lead our Board of Trustees, as well as a Safeguarding Trustee. Both roles are crucial to the governance and development of Ella's as an organisation, as our mission to unlock freedom among survivors of trafficking and exploitation. Aspiring trustees should understand the work we do, be compassionate, support Ella’s’ development to reach more women and be able to help Ella’s deliver the best outcomes for survivors. We would particularly love to hear from people who have benefited from a service like Ella’s, so we can learn from your lived experience. Deadline for applications: 9:00am on Monday 13 January 2025 #Trustee #Chair #Safeguarding https://lnkd.in/dTe__bX

Some personal news..in early 2025 I'll be stepping down from my trustee and non-exec governance roles. This means there’s an exciting opportunity for someone to take on the role of Chair of Trustees at Ella's —a truly vital and impactful organisation supporting survivors of trafficking and exploitation in the UK. Ella's has achieved incredible growth and impact since becoming an independent charity just five years ago and it has been such a privilege to be part of that story as a trustee. Now, the time feels right for a fresh Chair to guide the organisation through its next stage of growth and development. We’re seeking someone who shares a deep passion for Ella’s mission: ensuring survivors have the care and support they need to recover and build lives that are safe and free. In particular, we’d love to hear from people with lived experience of services like Ella’s, who can bring invaluable insight to this role. If you, or someone you know, might be a great fit, I’d be delighted to connect you with the team at Ella’s—or have a chat to explore further. As I step away from my governance roles after 8 years in some form of charity and social enterprise governance, I’m reflecting on a challenging year. Navigating The Juggle after maternity leave —balancing my leadership role, two governance positions, and being a present parent, friend, and family member—has been a lesson in resilience, limits, and the dark art of functioning without sleep! This decision is partly about prioritising balance and avoiding burnout after a tough 2024. While I know so many working mothers who seem at times to achieve having both a career and young children with greater ease than I've managed this year, I also know that doing both well is only possible due to a precarious mix of support, care, luck, timing, flexibility, caffeine, Calpol and cash! I’m learning where I can make choices that work for me. I’m exceptionally lucky to have a supportive, flexible employer at Fair4All Finance, but it’s still been a wildly tough juggle. I very much hope to return to new governance roles in the future, but for now, I’m embracing the chance to lighten the load and try doing fewer things well. #charitygovernance #chair

Happy Christmas from all of us at Ella’s, and thank you for your support. This beautiful painting is by Aisha, one of the survivors we’ve worked with this year… ‘I was so depressed before, after everything that happened to me. Now, I’m completely different. My idea of womanhood is completely changing,’ says Aisha. ‘Here at Ella’s, we can follow our dreams. My goal for the future is to go to college and become a graphic designer. I used to feel so hopeless, but now I don’t. Hopefully, God willing, I will have a good future.’ This is what it’s all about: not just surviving, but thriving. Not just feeling better, but feeling great. Not just feeling safe, but feeling strong! Have a lovely break, and we'll see you in 2025. #happychristmas #thankyou
