About us

A company based in York, we aim to empower and provide comfort to those going through medical treatments and illness. Through our adaptive clothing, we aim to not only streamline medical procedures, but to also give the wearer control during uncertain times. Founded by Joanne Nicholson and her son Matthew Rhodes, EmAble is a representation of the often undiscussed struggles when facing a health issue. The loss of Joanne's daughter and Matthew's sister, Emily, both wanted to bring a spotlight to the side effects of illness that include a degradation of self-worth and confidence. Through their clothing, the founders of EmAble hope they can make a difference, and give some power and control back to their wearers.

    🌿 Introducing EmAble: A Brand with Heart and Purpose 🌿 We are honoured to share the story of EmAble, an adaptive clothing brand based in York, England, created by a mother-son duo in memory of our beloved daughter and sister, Emily, who passed away from brain cancer in 2019. EmAble was born from a desire to make a difference for those going through medical treatments or living with chronic illness. Our clothing is designed to offer both comfort and dignity, making daily life just a little easier during some of the most challenging times. Every design reflects Emily's courage and compassion. She continues to inspire us, and through EmAble, we hope to carry her legacy forward by providing inclusive clothing options that empower individuals to feel both comfortable and cared for. We’re deeply grateful to share this journey with you and welcome you to join us as we bring adaptive fashion to those who need it most.
