Employee well-being is crucial, especially during a stressful season. Addressing mental health proactively helps boost morale and productivity while reducing absenteeism. Here are our 4 tips for supporting good mental health over the festive period: 1. Check in with employees: The festive season can be stressful in many ways, so take time to check in on your employees’ mental well-being. 2. Offer flexible options: If possible, offer flexible working hours or remote work to reduce stress during the busy season. 3. Be mindful of workload: Avoid overloading employees with too much work as this can lead to burnout. 4. Provide resources: Ensure employees know about mental health resources such as counselling services or mental health groups. Kate Coulson Caroline McDonald

Now we honestly don't want to be party-poopers 😆 But...workplace parties can be great for morale, but they can also lead to potential legal issues. Setting clear expectations ensures employees enjoy the festivities responsibly. Here are our 4 tips for responsibly managing office Christmas parties: 1. Set clear expectations: While workplace parties can be fun, remind employees of the need for professionalism, even outside work hours. 2. Monitor alcohol consumption: If alcohol is served, ensure that consumption is moderated and employees are encouraged to drink responsibly. 3. Have a code of conduct: Establish a clear policy for behaviour at company events to prevent any inappropriate conduct or harassment. 4. Provide transportation options: Offer alternatives for safe travel home, such as taxi vouchers, if employees plan to drink. Kate Coulson Caroline McDonald

You can never communicate enough. Why? Because communication gives you the following... ▶️ Clarity and Understanding: Ensuring everyone is on the same page can prevent misunderstandings and mistakes. ▶️ Building Trust: Regular communication can build stronger relationships and trust among team members. ▶️ Transparency: Keeping everyone informed about decisions, changes, and progress can create a more transparent and open work environment. ▶️ Feedback and Improvement: Frequent communication allows for continuous feedback, which can lead to improvements in processes and performance. #humanresources #communication #hrtips #hradvice #northamptonbusinesses Kate Coulson Caroline McDonald

Getting to know Kate... Q: Who do you most admire and why? A: My parents. My dad was a successful business person in Northampton, which I aspire to be. He had a huge impact on others during his life, he did a lot for the junior rugby scene locally and gave a lot back to many causes. He was very kind and inclusive, whether that was to my friends, business associates, or complete strangers. He always gave part of him to others. My mum is strong, stoic, kind and very positive. She is selfless and sees good in everyone, always putting her best foot forward and keeping healthy and happy. #humanresources #qanda #hrexpert #hrsupport #northamptonshire Kate Coulson Caroline McDonald

Performance management isn't just 'HR speak'. It's really important to drive success for a business and engage with employees. What's best practice? ▶️ Regular Check-Ins: Instead of annual reviews, consider more frequent check-ins to provide timely feedback. ▶️ Clear Criteria: Use clear, objective criteria for evaluations to ensure fairness. ▶️ Employee Involvement: Involve employees in setting their goals and evaluating their performance. ▶️ Training for Managers: Provide training for managers to conduct effective and fair performance reviews. #hradvice #humanresources #performancereview #northantsbusiness #hrtips Kate Coulson Caroline McDonald

Getting to know Caroline... Q: What's your best life tip? A: Stay positive…..as the saying goes 'don’t sweat the small stuff'. There are things we can control and things we can’t, so focus on your circle of control and let the rest sort itself out 😊 #hradvice #hrsupport #humanresources #lifetip #northantsbusiness Kate Coulson Caroline McDonald
