Scary but unsurprising findings. Education is suffering. It is imperative that we create more sustainable working patterns for teachers.

We are absolutely delighted to have won the award for the Future Business category at Catalyst INVENT 24. A year ago we set out to develop a solution for parent-teacher meetings that would help schools raise standards of excellence and reduce avoidable administrative tasks – allowing teachers to put their time back into teaching. We have been overwhelmed by the support along the way and overjoyed to see the real-life benefits as we launched Equipple in schools last month. Massive thank you to Meg Magill, Joe Wilson and the whole Catalyst team for all the incredible support through INVENT over the last 6 months and to Karen McDowell and Róisín Maguire for so willingly sharing your expertise. Special mention to Paul Roche for the mentorship and support along the way, as well as to the countless others who have given freely of their time and energy. Last but not least, to our wives and families, for your endless patience and unwavering support – thank you. The competition has been such an amazing opportunity to meet and learn from other businesses – it has pushed us to be better. Well done to all the incredible finalists, and thank you for the camaraderie and peer-to-peer mentoring throughout. We’ll take the weekend to reflect on this incredible experience. Equipple is an app which has been designed in mind to improve parent-teacher meetings by brothers and co-founders Ryan and Stuart Henry. The start-up was announced as one of the finalists in the Future Business Category for Catalyst INVENT 2024, the leading competition for aspiring innovators and entrepreneurs in Northern Ireland. Stuart, himself a teacher, talks to Sync NI about Equipple including what inspired the idea and its positive impact on teachers and parents alike. “Equipple is an app that improves parent-teacher meetings. These meetings can be difficult for parents to schedule and they are often left without clear next steps for their children to take. They are also extremely arduous for teachers to prepare for and contributing to unparalleled levels of burnout and teacher retention issues. "It’s projected that the global shortfall of teachers in the next five years will reach 44 million which is a daunting prospect.
