Relationships are the centre of our success. And it's smiles like this that make it all worth wild. 👩❤️👨 Pupils who made their behaviour targets took a trip on the observation wheel in Nottingham. 🎡 Not only is this a lovely treat but it serves as a learning experience. Lots of the pupils had not visited Nottingham before. Staying safe in a big city is a really important skill to be developed for our pupils. 🏬 🏙️ Not all of the staff enjoyed the heights!!

KS2 find learning outside the classroom invaluable. We deliver a formal starter in science and try as often as we can to secure learning through community access. 🌏 Here you can see pupils looking for vegetarian foods in the shop to support their learning about different diets. 🫛 🫘 🥨 🥩 Also you can see one of our little ones showing off the rocks he found at the park, this was to support our topic on materials. 🪨

Our Thrive practitioner has a fabulous relationship with all of our pupils. 🥰 Thrive is an approach we use to correctly identify the social, emotional and mental health needs of our pupils. We offer a 1:1 session each week; which is personalised, supports our pupils to reach their potential and become more independent in regulating and understanding their own needs. ❤️🩹 Our Thrive room is a safe space and with the strong relationships our staff uphold with the pupils we make progress with all who engage. 💯

Our English offer is very important to us at ESA. We align our core subject offer to our mainstream partners to ensure and promote a smooth transition back into education. Year 10 are doing a character study from the book "A Christmas Carol." This is to prepare them for their GCSE in the next academic year. 🎄 Primary are working with our phonics intervention lead in their daily Read Write Inc session with a little help from Fred the frog who can only speak in letter sounds! 🐸 These daily interventions help to fill the learning gap.

Today we met pupils indicvidual career needs, (Gatsby Benchmark 3.) We also had an experience in the workplace, (Gatsby Benchmark 6.) 😊 Three of our pupils with a keen interest in maths, technology and amazon; got a chance to visit the Amazon Fulfilment Centre. 🙌 They really enjoyed the tour, and the lead shared her experience with them about what it is like to work for Amazon. 🚛 Visits like this really help to inform our pupils around job opportunities that may be options for them in the future. We hope this drives them to continue to make progress academically at school.💰💰💰

We are excited to start our "Art Award" course at ESA. 🎨 KS3 and 4 pupils are working towards their "Explore" certificate. The award is equivalent to an entry level three accreditation. 🏆 The pupils will be exposed to artists and art, they will developing their own ideas and opinions and be immersed into artistic experiences in the community. 🖼 Keep posted for all of our hard work! 👍

As part of our KS4 fitness offer the pupils are attending the gym! 🏋♀️ We were involved in an induction and are learning how to use equipment safely. 💙 Attending the gym is being linked to a health and fitness Open Award. 🤩 It is always so important to get out in the community and work on our social skills. Well done KS4.

Primary pupils are learning about seasonal changes in science. 🍁 🍂 Today we learnt about Autumn and the changes that it brings. The objective over the year will be to recognise the main changes in each season. 🌱 🍂 ☃ The pupils enjoy learning outdoors it really helps them to retain information and relate learning to experiences. 🧠

We take opportunities to use older peers to support younger students to regulate. We find the older pupils can be a great role model to look up to. 👩🎓 This is a two way learning opportunity. Our role models can build their self esteem and learn their worth and potential. Our younger pupils can utilise support systems that are easier to relate to. 👨👧 Great team work! Stronger together! 💪
