The European Maritime Law Organisation is holding its 28th Annual Conference - this year in Hamburg - on Thursday evening/Friday. A must-attend event for #shipping,, #admiralty, #transport and #EU #lawyers. It has a brilliant lineup! Eddy De Smijter of the European Commission will lead a great discussion on the #EU #ForeignSubsidiesRegulation. The first session on #sanctions will be led by Fergus Randolph KC of Brick Court Chambers with panellists Robert Magovern of Cozen O'Connor, Leigh T. Hansson of Reed Smith and Daniel Martin of HFW. The second session on #sustainability in #shipping will be led by Markus Schöner of CMS Germany who has done brilliant work in organising the conference. On his panel are Katalin Dobránszky-Bartus, PhD of the European Community Shipowners' Associations (ECSA), Sebastian Ebbing of MPC Container Ships ASA, Michele Francioni Senior VP of MSC Cruises and Captain Wolfram Guntermann of Hapag-Lloyd AG. The third session looks at #competition law at the new European Commission and is led by the brilliant Marjorie Holmes of Reed Smith LLP and she will be joined by the marvellously experienced Matthew Levitt of Baker Botts, Bitten Thorgaard Sørensen who is head of competition at A.P. Moller - Maersk and Markus Schöner of CMS Germany. #AI and #Cybersecurity is the topic of the penultimate panel led by Svante Einarsson of DNV who will be joined by Dr-ing Andreas Freier of DAL, Martin Schoeler CEO of FLETEC and Dr. Philipp Etzkorn of CMS Germany. This promises to be as exciting as it is timely. The final session deals with the big topic of #foreignsubsidies for #ports and will be chaired by Sarah Biontino founding partner of Biontino Europe and she will be joined by Eddy De Smitjer, Daniel Hosseus CEO of the German Shipowners Association, Burkhard Sommer of PWC, Ulf Djurberg of Magnusson Law in Stockholm, Pedro Callol of Callol Coca in Madrid and Robert Macgovern of Cozen O'Connor. All of this is possible by the great work of the entire Council of EMLO - in particular Martin André Dittmer Francesco Munari with the incredible work from Sarah Murray and Tess Bright and the organising committee which has worked for months to put together such a stellar lineup. I just have the lucky job of chairing this great group. The 28th Annual Conference is shaping up to be incredible!! (If you are missing it, join EMLO and make the 29th Annual Conference and all the webinars in between!).
