We are thrilled to announce that Everyone Active - SLM has been awarded a 15-year contract to manage leisure facilities in partnership with Brentwood Borough Council and Rochford District Council, building on our existing partnership with Brentwood. This exciting partnership will see us managing four key leisure facilities: 🔷 The Brentwood Centre 🔷 Hartswood Pavilion 🔷 Clements Hall Leisure Centre 🔷 Rayleigh Leisure Centre Duncan Jefford, Regional Director at Everyone Active - SLM said: "We are delighted to have been awarded this significant 15-year contract to manage leisure facilities across both Brentwood and Rochford. This joint partnership represents an excellent opportunity to leverage our extensive experience of managing more than 230 facilities nationwide to deliver exceptional services to these communities. "Our vision extends beyond traditional leisure centre operations and we will be implementing innovative programmes and delivering diverse activities that make fitness and wellbeing accessible to all residents. This aligns perfectly with both councils' ambitions to expand their leisure services beyond facility walls and into community settings. Celebrating all the 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 at our centres 👏 This week, a plaque was unveiled at Greenbank Leisure Centre to celebrate Paralympian Megan Neave. Swim star and Everyone Active - SLM Sporting Champion athlete, Megan, has been honoured at one of our leisure centres for her achievements in para swimming. Area Contract Manager, Dan Mclean, said: “Megan is a huge inspiration to the local community and in particular to the young swimmers on our award-winning Learn to Swim scheme. “We are hugely proud to have her as part of the Sporting Champions programme and it is fantastic that her amazing achievements on the international stage are celebrated in this way.” #EveryoneActive #SportingChampions #SportingChamps #EveryoneCanBeAChampion

A solar car-port project has commenced at K2 in Crawley funded by the Sport England Swimming Pool Support Fund and the Council. After working on a successful Swimming Pool Support Fund application with Crawley Borough Council, to all the behind the scenes planning, I am now so excited to see this massive project start next week 🙌 This will help with the ongoing rise in energy costs and reduce the energy consumption we use at K2 Crawley - It’s a game changer! At Everyone Active - SLM we’re proud to raise awareness for UK Disability History Month (UKDHM). The annual event which focuses on the history of equality and human rights disabled people. The theme this year is ‘Disability Livelihood and Employment’ and we have been proud to celebrate the colleagues at our centres that continue to break down barriers from activities and push the boundaries both in and outside of the workplace. Watch below, to see our Climbing Wall Manager at Westminster Lodge Leisure Centre, Fibi Rabe talk about her journey, the team around her and the common misconceptions around disability that she’s faced. Thanks for sharing your story Fibi 🙌 As part of our commitment to be a Disability Confident Employer we want to support more disabled people to be represented in the leisure industry and work alongside industry bodies such as Sport England and Activity Alliance to achieve their missions so that everyone feels united and belongs. It’s that time of the year to reflect on 2024, and celebrate all the fantastic work that's taken place across our centres. 👏 Watch below for a snippet of the work from one of our regions, and a chance to celebrate our colleagues and partners that ensure we deliver on our Community Health and Wellbeing ambitions. 👏 The video produced and shot by Adam Gill and Community Health and Wellbeing projects led by Rebecca Phillips, Louise Chaves, Amy-Sue Widman, Adam Mundy, Callum Yates and Richard Bell. Finishing the year with lots of exciting developments across the country! ✔️ Starting in Barking and Dagenham with an exciting project upgrading the fitness facilities at Abbey Leisure Centre and Becontree Heath Leisure Centre. As part of a new 10-year contract with London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Borough Council, we are currently making a series of fitness upgrades, worth £850,000 to the two sites. The gym at Abbey Leisure Centre is undergoing a complete transformation, including a redesigned layout and an array of new equipment. Members can look forward to a range of new cardio equipment and a broader range of strength training options. Building on its 2022 refurbishment, Becontree Heath Leisure Centre also just unveiled its upgraded gym, featuring new Olympic lifting platforms and expanded strength training equipment. ✔️ Heading on to Rickmansworth, where we mange facilities in partnership with Three Rivers District Council. Residents will soon benefit from a £500,000 investment at William Penn Leisure Centre, featuring a redesigned gym, and newly upgraded cycling and group exercise studios, complete with Keiser UK bikes. ✔️ Meanwhile, Hitchin Swimming and Fitness Centre is undergoing a significant transformation with a £400,000 gym upgrade. Originally planned for summer 2025, the renovation is taking place more than six months early, demonstrating an accelerated approach to facility improvements. In partnership with North Herts Council, this investment follows other improvements at the centre and across the wider contract. These include Everyone Active's first ever Reformer studio at Hitchin and another major gym refurbishment at North Herts Leisure Centre. ✔️ And not forgetting Wickford Swim and Fitness Centre, as the facility undergoes a major renovation of its studio spaces. The project, managed by Everyone Active in partnership with Basildon Borough Council, will transform two studios into a single, modern and inclusive space. To mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Tim Mathias, Strategic Lead for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion at ukactive, discusses the significant steps the physical activity sector is taking to ensure those with disabilities are supported, welcomed and encouraged to enjoy the countless benefits of physical activity within the sector’s facilities and services. In the blog, Tim discusses ukactive’s Everyone Can programme which is just one example of work that aims to improve inclusivity and accessibility for disabled people by bringing the sector together to raise awareness, convene operators and suppliers so that learnings and evidence can be shared within this space. The piece also includes contributions from LimbPower, Activity Alliance, STA (Swimming Teachers Association), Everyone Active - SLM and Future Fit Group on their work and ambitions around inclusion within the sector.
