The ExtraCare Charitable Trust ExtraCare is a registered charity established in 1988 and based in Coventry. Our vision is better lives for older people and our mission is creating sustainable communities that provide homes older people want, lifestyles they can enjoy and care if it’s needed. To deliver our vision and mission we essentially do three things: • We develop new villages • We operate villages and schemes • We support our villages, schemes and our ‘extra-care’ model through fundraising, advocacy & research Each village or scheme has 5 to 18 social, health and leisure facilities that are accessible to our residents, volunteers and local people representing all age groups living in surrounding communities. Our Charity Shops help fund care and well-being services for older people living at our each of our locations. www.extracare.org.uk

These aren't your average Christmas cards. Can you guess what makes these Christmas cards so special? Residents at St Oswald's retirement village have been spreading holiday cheer with their stunning handcrafted designs. Over 400 cards featuring19 designs were printed, each one showcasing illustrations created by residents and all proceeds from the card sales go back into their arts program, helping to upgrade materials and sustain creative opportunities for residents. We are beyond proud to announce St Oswald's Retirement Village fabulous Remembrance Team raised over £4,000 for their chosen charity for this year - The Veterans Charity! This fantastic amount will help the charity continue to address the immediate support needs of Veterans struggling with hardship and distress. The hard work was undertaken by a group of 5 veterans that are residents here at St. Oswald’s – who collectively run all our Remembrance events every year. A truly incredible feat of fundraising.

Last Friday we were joined by Blake Stephenson MP and ARCO (Associated Retirement Community Operators) at Wixams retirement village. The visit was the perfect way to indulge in some festive cheer and for us all to share our knowledge on the Integrated retirement community sector.

With Christmas just around the corner, we know there are many people who won’t be able to celebrate with gifts for their loved ones so this year. Which is why we are so proud of our retirement communities for taking part in Teams4U Shoebox Appeal. Our residents didn’t just financially support the project but put their skills and creativity to work, knitting hats and gloves, crafting soft toys, and even upcycling charity shop finds. It was a pleasure to welcome Alex McIntyre, MP for Gloucester, to ExtraCare Charitable Trust St Oswald's Village in his constituency on Friday. Alex first met St Oswald's resident Ricky and his wife Janie at The Labour Party Conference in September, as Ricky addressed Ministers at the the Future Social Care Coalition rally, speaking about his positive experience of care at St Oswald's. Ricky and Janie invited Alex to visit St Oswald's and see first-hand the impact its facilities have on residents' lives, and were kind enough to give Alex and his Constituency Support Manager, Sophie, a tour of the village when they did visit. Alex was also fortunate to see the hard work of residents and volunteers as they set up for their #ArmisticeDay event, which took place at the weekend. Thank you to Jack Daniels, St Oswald's Registered Care Manager, for facilitating the visit, and to Alex and his team for spending their afternoon with Ricky and Janie, learning more about the positive impacts that #integratedretirementcommunities can have on them and other residents. #housingwithcare #extracare #socialcare #retirementliving
