With the challenges of greenwashing posing an ever growing threat to the reputations of companies and organisations, Farrant Group managing director Anthony Simon joined speakers at a special event hosted by Stephenson Harwood LLP to discuss some of the key challenges: https://lnkd.in/e3zTADAG
Recently, members of Stephenson Harwood's greenwashing risk offering hosted a roundtable dinner for senior professionals from a range of industries and sectors, where greenwashing concerns are particularly pertinent. The roundtable began with a keynote speech from Simon H. Lee, lecturer in Atmospheric Science, University of St Andrews, who gave a sobering view of the trajectory the climate crisis is currently on. The evening featured a presentation from the chief executive of the Advertising Standards Authority, Guy Parker, who talked about ASA's extensive use of AI in policing compliance, the latest greenwashing rulings, and the co-operation with regulators like the CMA and the FCA. Anwar Darkazally, managing partner of Field Intelligence, highlighted the dangers of relying on third-party data in the context of greenwashing and beyond; and Anthony Simon, director at Farrant Group, discussed the key tensions faced by businesses in managing greenwashing risk and gave examples of "the good, the bad, and the ugly". We also heard from members of Stephenson Harwood's multi-disciplinary greenwashing risk offering, partners Genevieve Quierin, Christophe Boucherie, Adam Culy, and managing associate Galina Usorova.
