Interesting list by Sifted and further breakdown by Jenifer Swallow 👇 ➡️ 30% of all start ups are fintech companies and legaltech companies ➡️ 22% of all start ups are London based

Great to see Europe's 250 fastest growing start-up list by Sifted: 30% B2B SaaS 26% fintech - majority still banking and payments 16% climatetech 15% consumer 13% healthtech 4% lawtech/regtech - one of which a fintech crossover tackling tax 4% deeptech 3% edtech 6% above 500% CAGR - average 250%, lowest 84% 22% London based Interesting to see such growth in the broader consumer category and a refreshing breadth of tech beyond genAI, albeit that'll likely come through next year. Interesting growth in CFO tech stack products, as we're seeing for General Counsel. Anyway, some great info here, including on investors for those seeking funding - something that's still too too hard for the European start up ecosystem reaching for profitability. There's also a report. https://lnkd.in/egdresfE

Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) is commonly associated with retail lifestyle purchases such as clothes, furniture and electrical appliances. 🧥 🛋️ 🖥️ But what about BNPL for essential high-cost services where the availability of a manageable payment option is perhaps even more critical for many? Well, obviously - yes and here is a selection of some high-cost services industries where it is already being used successfully: 🔨 Home repairs 🦷 Dental 📚 Education 🦮 Pet care 🔧 Car repairs ✈️ Travel And, of course, with Feesier now also legal fees! 🧾

  • The PwC Annual Law Firm survey 2024 results were published earlier this week. Much has already been written on the back of the FT article that the Top 10 law firms have raised their hourly rates by 40% in 5 years. However, the Top 10 law firms are in a world of their own and can be considered somewhat of an outlier when it comes to the trends and realities of the UK legal services market. There were actually quite a few very interesting findings that probably better reflect the reality of many other UK law firms and legal services providers, especially in relation to the “mid-tier" firms (i.e. PwC's Top 51-100 firms): 📈 hourly rates keep increasing across the board, keeping legal services expensive to access - 24% increase over 5 years and 7% increase from 2023 in hourly fees by Top 51-100 firms ⌛️ earned fees still don’t hit the firm's bank account for way too long - average lock up days for Top 51-100 have gone up by 3.6% to 145 (nearly 5 months!) since last year 🔻 sizeable write offs are increasing - the number of Top 51-100 firms posting write-offs of greater than 20% has nearly doubled from 6% in 2023 to 11% in 2024 🚫 AI tools are not reducing costs for most - no firms outside the Top 10 have implemented AI tools and are seeing monetised productivity gains (e.g. through reduced costs) 🫣 Increasing concerns about negative impact of GenAI - 60% of Top 51-100 firms now believe GenAI will have a negative impact on their business, while only 34% expect a positive impact (almost the reverse of the 31% negative to 69% positive expectations ratio just a year ago) 💰‘Improving working capital performance’ remains the number one priority for business support for the second year running for all Top 100 firms So the key challenges for many legal practices are still: 🎯 making their services more attainable 🎯 improving cashflow and reducing the unrealistically long lock up periods 🎯 increasing the volume of new business and client loyalty This is where Feesier Ltd can help 👌 PwC survey: https://lnkd.in/dsHKNK48

  • 📣 The LegalGeek Conference 2024 took place in the end of last week covering all things legal, including legal innovation, law/legaltech and much more.  🚧 Inevitably, the issue of access to justice featured prominently, including a presentation on the subject by Christina Blacklaws, chair of LawtechUK and former president of the The Law Society. 💷 As interestingly highlighted in this reader’s comment in the Law Society Gazette coverage of Christina’s presentation (link below), in many cases the issue of access to justice (or to legal services more generally) is actually one of affordability. There is certainly no shortage of qualified legal services providers, including alternative and innovative models of delivery of legal services. But legal services (and justice) are inherently expensive and many struggle to access them due to cost. 🤝 Whilst Feesier can’t single-handedly fix the issue of affordability (or even cost) of the legal services, we striving to do the next best thing - making legal services more attainable with manageable gradual cost-free payment options while also commercially benefiting legal practices. A win-win. Find out more on www.feesier.com or get in touch. Law Society Gazette article: https://lnkd.in/gGdBkDh9
