𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝗔𝗔𝗔 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗽𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 F+M took on the challenge to design a new Norwich base for East Anglian Air Ambulance operations, from helicopters to charity workers. The brief was to create a sustainable, attractive and robust centre. Here's how we did it: 🔹 Initial Concept & Design We kicked off by understanding EAAA's vision to unite their teams under one roof, focusing on sustainability, functionality, and design that reflects their purpose. Careful consideration was given to the location with several sites investigated. The result was a decision to extend and revitalise the existing headquarters at Norwich International Airport. 🔹 Sustainable Construction Sustainability was at the heart of our design approach for East Anglian Air Ambulance. By repurposing the existing steel structure and concrete slab, we preserved valuable resources and enhanced thermal performance beyond Building Regulations. This thoughtful approach not only optimised energy efficiency but also supported the long-term operational needs of the building. 🔹 Interior Design Our Interiors team created a vibrant, integrated space that would foster collaboration and wellbeing for the EAAA team. 🔹 Completion The final result is a building that combines sustainability and practicality, designed for members to thrive in. We're very proud of this journey and the positive impact it's had on EAAA’s incredible work. Since opening, the building won a SPACES Award in the Community category. Although I came in towards the end of this project, with a lot of the hard work done by other members of the F+M team, it was great to see this project obtain unanimous approval from Attleborough Town Council on the 20th January. It will deliver a 60-bed care home, 110 extra care apartments & bungalows, a community village hub and 3 retail units with EV charging and other green credentials. I'm looking forward to continuing to develop our senior living offering within F+M, whilst hopefully working alongside other members of the design team on other projects in the future.
