Hi All, Feeling a slump/ anxiety/ fear/ disappointment / anger/ or still processing the potential impact of the USA Elections today? Let's point our energy and invest our time, attention and money in who and what matters, connecting with the joy and pain of life and everything in between that makes us human, building our bank of frank conversations to simply be with and connect with each other, with people, stories and spaces that matter. We have an important event coming up this Sunday in Bath but we may need to cancel the event if we don't secure further support in the next 24 hours unfortunately. So we need your support to make this happen - through ticket sales or contributions - please see below. And we would love for you to attend if you are local to Bristol/ Bath or South West England, or support this and the connections and conversations for better that follow on by contributing through the link below. Help us raise funds to help pay for the Hijabi Documentary Film Screening and frank conversation to come to Bath on Sunday, 10 November, 2024. We need your help to pay for the venue, IT and film screening support, and staffing. Ticket sales are contributing too but we need more. And with Islamophobia Awareness Month: https://lnkd.in/eV3aXAVx it would be great to see and feel more support to show up to witness these stories of real people, and connect with each other. 1. You can contribute here through the donate button: https://lnkd.in/ePe4fNfJ 2. You can book tickets direct: https://lnkd.in/dbg_Tyma 3. You can read full information about the film and event. Everyone is welcome. https://lnkd.in/e34CEcMb With the significant rise in Islamophobia recently and Muslims in the community feeling more unsafe and isolated we invite you to this space for Muslims to come along and share their experiences with others with support, and a chance for non-Muslims to meet Muslims in their community, ask questions, get to know more about lived experiences of their neighbours and show support. Let’s share or imagine what better and best can be like. Any questions of to get more involved in supporting the event and these frank conversations please direct message me Helen Farmer. Big thanks in advance for your time and attention. https://lnkd.in/e34CEcMb

Film Programmer & Spanish Language tutor

This year I have been working as a freelance co-ordinator for the film festival Cinema Rediscovered, Bristol, which is based at Watershed. At the same time, I have been part of a group of co-curators under the initiative Other Ways of Seeing supported by BFI awarding National Lottery funds. Thanks to Other Ways of Seeing I have curated the film El cine soy yo (Luis Armando Roche, 1977, Venezuela/France) which has recently been restored by Bolívar Films Laboratories. After the UK premiere in Bristol, the film has been screened in Belfast, Dundee, and Exeter. From Friday 4 October it will be at Chapter Arts Centre, Cardiff, then on 25 October FilmBath, and on 15 November at CCA Glasgow. El cine soy yo is a love letter to cinema and Venezuela and is available for cinemas and community venues too! For booking details write to cinema.rediscovered@watershed.co.uk #cinemarediscovered #cineLatinoamericano #cineVenezolano #LatinAmericancinema

  • #ThrowbackThursday to our screening of The Old Oak with Q&A with director Ken Loach where we were joined by local charities Bath Welcomes Refugees , Bath City FC Foundation and Southside Family Project who shared the incredible projects they run. Thanks to Ken organising the waiving of the film licence fee we were able to donate a percentage of the ticket sales to all three charities who do amazing work in the community. At FilmBath we really value collaboration and giving a platform to local charities. Thank you to all the audiences who came, to Bath City Football Club for hosting and of course to the legendary Ken Loach. We will remember this event for a long time.
