Like all great teachers, travel encourages. ⁠ ⁠ It invites you to gently step out of your comfort zone, without demanding that you do. Helen, Marbree, Barbara and Val share what travel taught them in 2025.⁠ ⁠ Helen ⛵️⁠ Sometimes being on the water in Greece just does its thing and helps you slow down. ⁠ The sailing slows as the wind direction changes. The menu changes as a Dorado nips your line, and a surprise pod of dolphins means all plans go out the window, to watch them play in the waves.⁠ As someone who loves organisation, sailing has taught me to sometimes let all the plans go awry!⁠ ⁠ Marbree 👣⁠ Physically stopping and breathing in the beauty of what surrounds you makes the moment more special and more memorable.⁠ Whether it’s the natural scenery of Bhutan, Laos, and Borneo; the underwater marvels of the Philippines; futuristic designs of Singapore; a pandan-& butterfly-pea dyed layer cake in Malaysia; or the wood carvings of Nepal, the world is gorgeous.⁠ ⁠ Barbara 🐪⁠ On my recent family holiday in Morocco I learned not to over-research.⁠ Spending hours reading articles or watching vlogs meant I eventually lost the excitement of discovery. I also realised it’s important to trust my own experiences rather than relying on reviews.⁠ ⁠ Val ⛰️⁠ I had forgotten to slow down, even when travelling! I have learnt to embrace the 'Latino' pace when I am visiting Chile, Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay, and reconnect with humans, wildlife and nature. ⁠ There is nothing more fulfilling and natural in pausing and watch the world go by. It is in moments like this that I have had the best experiences, met the most extraordinary people, and that stick in my memory.⁠
