Research internship opportunity We have a fixed-term internship to support a research and consultation project, reviewing the implementation of the Nagoya Protocol (Access and Benefit-sharing principles). The focus of this research will be the efficacy of benefit-sharing practices, and the opportunities for more equitable trade of genetic resources. We are looking for an exceptional researcher with a demonstrable understanding of international trade and legislation, with a passion for nature and commitment to environmental justice. Welcome to our 3rd cohort of interns at Forest Research and Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew who are already hard at work on their projects. At Kew, we have Apoorva, who is working on ash genome annotation, Cas is making maps of healthy mature elms and Catherine is carrying out genomic analysis of disease-resistance in elms. At Forest Research our interns are all working with our PhD students. Jack is carrying out social science fieldwork on elm, Joshua is working on a pine disease caused by a nematode and Katy is working on risks from a bacterial disease. Our annual internship programme gives early career scientists and social scientists the opportunity to explore careers in tree health and forest protection.
