A month ago we were so excited to hear that we had made the ‘Top 50 Boutique Hotels’ list once more. Yesterday they announced the full list and we are absolutely thrilled to share that Foyers Lodge appears at No.13 - not unlucky for us! The list is voted for by industry peers from all over the UK across the hospitality and travel sector and the team at Foyers Lodge couldn’t be prouder to be included. We are so lucky to host wonderful guests from all over the world celebrating all sorts of milestone events - or just enjoying a ‘once in a lifetime’ holiday and this past weekend was no exception. On Saturday we were honoured to host some very special guests celebrating a remarkable 50th anniversary. On 31 August 1974, David Scott Munro, of Ross-shire Caberfeidh Water Ski Club, became the first person in the world to water ski (mono ski) the length of Loch Ness. From Lochend to Fort Augustus and back, he covered the 48 miles in 77 minutes at an average speed of 37 mph. David and his wife Muffie (who provided support from the boat during the record breaking event) celebrated in the glorious sunshine in the garden overlooking the famous loch where it all took place 50 years ago. They kindly shared some images from the special day so I could share them more widely. Aren’t these just the coolest photos - cruising down Loch Ness with a back drop of clear blue skies…. Thank you to David and Muffie for choosing Foyers Lodge to remember such a special day in their lives. The team were delighted to look after them and the other guests delighted to meet them. Wow. Phil and I were absolutely amazed that Foyers Lodge was featured in this lovely article championing beautiful alternative hotels from across the UK in The Telegraph this weekend.
