Funny Women is excited to be launching the second part of our Glitter Project, 'A Safe Place' at the incredible Women in Comedy Festival in October. As many of your would have seen, the project launched part one at Edinburgh Festival Fringe this August with free mentorship events for first-time fringe performers and open mic nights for female and non-binary comedians. Funny Women received an enormous amount of support throughout the festival and even won the Jones the Bootmaker (ISH) Edinburgh Comedy Awards Panel Prize alongside the nominated projects. The Glitter Project - A Safe Place will be hosted on the first weekend of the festival providing a networking session for female identifying performers, writers and creators to meet up, get advice and perform in an open mic. Find out more about the festival and the Glitter Project on our website. https://lnkd.in/eC7jiWuB #supportthearts #artsandculture

The Edinburgh Fringe Festival is always exciting, and this year, it was even more exciting as Funny Women's new initiative, The Glitter Project, was awarded the Jones the Bootmaker ISH Edinburgh Comedy Awards Panel Prize award which was split between all five nominees. The Glitter Project, launched at this year's Fringe, was created to provide both mentoring sessions and open mic nights as a ‘hands on’ way of supporting new and first-time comedy performers as well as more established acts who needed a confidence boost, advice and directing to resources. We’ve been delighted at the response that the project received, even to the point that our mentors were being stopped in the street to answer questions! Find out more about the awards ceremony, The Glitter Project, and what founder, Lynne Parker, had to say about winning the award in our latest article. #edinburghfringefestival #awardsceremony #funatwork https://lnkd.in/eVBFM6en

Comedy plays a role in all of our lives, not just for those who like to get on stage. Not only is it a great way to enjoy everyday life, but comedy can help people work together, aid wellbeing and grow your skillset. If you fancy doing something other than wolfing down a sandwich and reading the news at lunchtime, join us for our Comedy Crash Course from Monday 16 to Friday 20 September for one hour a day and create some of your own comedy with some of the friendliest people in comedy. It doesn't have to be stand up, it could be some character work or getting started on some new writing. https://lnkd.in/etKsjYCD #funatwork #funnywomen #wellbeing #mentalhealthatwork

We had a fantastic Stand Up to Stand Out summer school this Saturday! 😁🏖️🍍 Led by Funny Women founder, Lynne Parker, we had 12 fantastic women join us at the Groucho Club in Soho, London to try out creating their own comedy and take part in workshops with comedian, Claudine Ullman - Comedian/Facilitator, and writer, Emma Loveday. Now, you may be thinking that the women who took part were all seasoned performers with 101 jokes up their sleeves, but in reality the people who take part in our workshops are often performing or doing comedy for the first time, or are very early on in their comedy journey. Some have done comedy before, whether that's doing stand up, writing sketches or even doing some improvisation, but our workshops are designed for everyone to take part in an environment that's supportive and encouraging. We've been running these workshops for years and every time we're always astounded at the talent of those who take part and the unique stories, ideas and courage they all have. Thank you to everyone who took part in our summer school, we can't wait to welcome you back to another workshop soon! Make sure to keep an eye on our events page to find out about our upcoming workshops (including our Comedy Crash Course in September!) and our open mic nights. https://lnkd.in/ekMQHzUR #herlarious #funnywomen #funatwork

Been in the office this summer with no chance of visiting Edinburgh Fringe Festival? We're here to fix that for you. This August we've been interviewing some of the funniest women heading the fringe learning about their new shows, what inspires them and how they established themselves as performers. So, grab a coffee, mark yourself as 'busy' on teams and have a good read. https://lnkd.in/eqtinjWZ #funnywomen #funatwork #herlarious

Everything is going to be f***ing amazing for sure! Plus, everything is better when laughter is involved. 🤣 The seesaw of human emotion is critical to our lives but sadly we’re becoming more adept at hiding it, particularly in business. Never have we needed fun and laughter more than as a counterpoint to all the tricky things that are happening in our world today. 😂 We need to laugh with each other when we work together, not just when we play! We remember the funny people – the bosses, teachers, colleagues, suppliers, experts… they get their messages over and stay with us in our memories throughout our careers and lives. 😁 I’ve been running my Stand Up to Stand Out workshops for 15 years with adaptations for business and public life as well as those wanting to perform comedy. This Saturday 17th August is my full day Summer School with two amazing extra facilitators Claudine Ullman and Emma Loveday, plus tea, coffee, pastries and light lunch thrown in (not literally!) for good measure. All in the air-conditioned splendour of The Groucho Club Ltd. where I am a founder member! 😀 There’s a handful of places left, I will give you a discount if you know me or share a network or two and, if you’re really strapped for cash due to personal circumstances and you think this workshop will help you, I will offer one more bursary place. Please DM me on here if you fit the bill or pay full price because Funny Women CIC is a non-profit and you’ll be supporting new talent development. 😍 Booking details here: https://lnkd.in/eS8kRBw3 This is a fantastic testimonial from a past participant: 'Too often we are restricted by the expectations of others, especially as a woman in business. This session was expertly led by Lynne, who made everyone feel welcome, but also emboldened. Within no time, absolute strangers were giggling hysterically and cheering each other on.’ 🤗 That’s what I’m talking about! 🤣 #funnywomen #workshop #summerschool #standuptostandout
